I wanted to get a feel from owners real quick on some driving behavior I've noticed in the last week or so before putting in a service request...

My 2023 Gen1 R1T DM is currently on 2026.07, and I've noticed that there's a slight lurch when coming to the final stop from regen braking - it's almost like it rolls backwards an inch or so after coming to a stop. Then this morning, I noticed a lurch/'spasm' feeling when reversing into a parking spot at low speeds (2-4 mph). Mot 100% sure if it's an issue with the vehicle, or maybe I've lost my touch when feathering the throttle... Additionally, I have blended braking on, so maybe I just need to give my brakes a good hit to knock off any rust or buildup?

I'm not sure if my wife has noticed it or not. She hasn't mentioned anything, but I also drive the truck much more often than she does.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Never have experienced what you are describing with out 2023 R1S.

Would definitely take it in for service and while waiting, first thing I would try is to turn off blended braking and see if that's the cause.

Good luck.

Just upgraded to 2026.15.0 on my ā€˜23 Gen 1 DM R1T but I don’t remember ever experiencing what you describe. I have experienced the ā€˜klunk’ when accelerating and I’m hoping that goes away with this new release.

Wild guess. When was the last time you manually braked enough to scrape rotors clean of corrosion and debris? Maybe what you describe is attributed to slip when brake hold takes over.

I'm beginning to lean this way, as I've never smashed the brake pedal in this truck...... but my wife has. We use a nearby freeway onramp as a 'air dryer' after washing the truck (and for having fun with 0-60, even in the bog standard dual motor), and she had to slam on the brakes upon spotting a cop at the top of the ramp.

I'll give the pedal a good solid slamming on the way home from work today & see what happens after that.

Oddly enough, I've never noticed the 'clunk' when the rear motor is engaged/disengaged. Maybe I have my music up too loud or something....

I have felt the same ā€œjoltā€ on my 25 tri. It’s not every time, just randomly happens.

I gave the brakes a good slam yesterday to hopefully rule that out. Still noticed the behavior today driving into work, minus the lurches when backing up. But I did have the brake assist on still. Will turn it off tomorrow morning and try to replicate.

That all being said, I never noticed this behavior in the past, even with brake assist on. I'm going to give things a few more days (and a camping trip this weekend) before reaching out to Rivian on this.

I have similar results when backing up ... if at VERY slow speed backing up and I lift my foot off the go peddle too far, to quickly I believe the brake engages creating a small jerk which also causes my wife to yell at me. I think this is normal behavior for the R1, myself and my wife.

I only get that if I'm reversing uphill and shift into drive before it's completely done moving.
