With the release yesterday of 2026.24, I started wondering what software updates I’d really like to see. Here’s my list so far:
- Camp mode
- Garage pairing can be shared with all profiles (4 people will use my R2, I don’t want to have to pair my garage 4x so each profile can open the same door)

What do you want to see?

As a non-Rivian owner, what does Camp Mode actually do? In the R1 I think it tries to level the vehicle, but without the active air suspension, R2 can't do that. Are there power saving features that Camp Mode could enable or something?

Same as climate keep or dog mode, just another name for it. They all do the same thing but just slightly different UI and features. Maybe tries to optimize kWh usage more.

It keeps lights off and sounds to a minimum to avoid disturbing others. Also convenient to enable 120V power.

Camp mode is great at a drive-in theater for those people that still have one nearby. As mentioned, it keeps the lights off to avoid disturbing others that are nearby.

I don't think that is necessary - My wife and I have two different profiles in our R1T, and we only had to train the garage door once.

The garage door system is an integration with a third party hardware module in the R1, I'd guess it's the same for R2. It's not going to be profile based.

We go to a local drive-in theater all the time (plays new movies). I am excited about the prospect of occasionally running some HVAC during hotter or colder nights at the drive-in, which is not a great option in an ICE car due to noise and fumes.

The drive-in in the only scenario where I would miss the lack of an FM radio in the R2. I guess we'll still be using our battery powered portable radio 🤷‍♂️.

For "Homelink" garage door openers, I'l like to see 8 separate garage door selections, all available to all users. I need a minimum of 4, 5 would be great, and 8 would cover all the gates/doors my car will regularly see and would be nice to be accessible. To simplify selection, they should be shown on screen only when close by, and that would be two different three different locations for me.

I know 3 will cover the vast majority of the customers, but a few more "memory" slots should be a relatively easy/cheap SW accommodation.

It is likely the existing HW will support an FM radio in software, but I suspect there will be a missing antenna or some such making this request more than just SW.

R1 allows 16, so I don't know why R2 would be any different.

I'm incredibly disappointed that the R1 and R2 software environments are so different. I'd love to know the reasoning behind why they rewrote the full stack for the R2. From a "Software defined vehicle" perspective, it seems strange to me that they've got to rewrite functions like Pet mode when they've already developed and tested it on the R1.
