Guessing this is targeted at us Gen 1 owners with the all but inop original charging pad. Interesting that they made that a paid retrofit rather than a customer satisfaction campaign.

that said, it still doesn’t have a camera bump recess so I’m wondering how it works with most phones out there. Anyone have any experience with this new design?

incidentally, a tech told me this week that the new charger is basically the same as the old except for the separation ridge.

I think it’s basically the Gen2 version, which is still just as useless and won’t hold your phone/charge. I got the Twraps MagSafe insert charger and so far works pretty well and keeps phone from sliding around.

I have twraps as well. It just surprises me that they didn’t add a recess for camera bumps. It would help keep phones in place and bring the coils closer. Even the SC tech said it’s not worth the trouble.
