Why would you want your garage door to open automatically when you get X distance from home? How does it know you want to park in the garage or if you have more than one which one you want to park in? Maybe it's just my situation that's weird.

I’ve been using this for years and it has worked almost flawlessly. It has an interesting MFA function between your phone and car, along with geofences, night mode and a lot of other great options and works as an add on with most door openers.

You tell it what door to use when you set up the geofence.

Everyone has their own situation. Depending upon how narrow the geofencing is, it would work for me. I only have one car and one garage and always park in the garage. It would save me from having to fumble around for the garage door opener when I'm trying to turn into my alley.

There's no fumbling in most luxury/modern cars that have the door opener built in.

Another option I use, get homebridge, convert the MyQ to homelink compatible, and I just ask Siri to open garage door, works great.
Chamberlain discontinued the home bridge, though you can still find it on Amazon.

I just tell Siri to open the Rivian door as I approach the house. The automation to run this as I arrive often doesn’t show the notification to run it until I’m at the door. I like having my doors show up on Apple’s Home app

‘Gotta say setup is a pain because of poor instructions.

Homebridge is run on a raspberry pi computer, no monthly cost and chamberlain is not in charge of it. You don’t need a myq hub with it.

Kind of irrelevant now, because Rivian is no longer using Alexa, but there was an Alexa skill you could install.

I have this already in our other vehicles that support carplay. In the R1T I can just ask siri.

Idunno? Though I use MyQ through Android to open and close the garage doors (we have two), I was able to program both openers to the Rivian garage door app without any issue. We also have the good, old fashioned garage door remote that clips to the sun visor for each door.

MyQ, for me at least, is spotty; often unable to pick up one or both of the garage doors. And then there is the endless barrage of marketing on the app as I am trying to get to where I can actually do something.
