I called Rivian Support but no one seems even know what is MSDS. It is Material Safety Data Sheet, every company would have to publish such document for any chemical content in the interest of public safety and other reasons such as insurance.

Usually could found on web site which I did easily for Tesla. However, I could not find even I tried hard. Any one would know ??

I don’t think an MSDS is required for a completed product (like a car). It would be required for a specific chemical that is in the car. For instance if you know the product name of the coolant or the gear oil and who makes them, each of those would have an MSDS. If you knew the right person who works maybe in service or in manufacturing they would have access to it locally, but I don’t believe there’s a requirement generally to facilitate getting that info to the final customer unless you also are selling those products direct (like gallon jugs of antifreeze).

An MSDS is important. What should I do if I get R1T in my eyes, inhale R1T, or ingest R1T?

There are Rivian emergency response guides:
https://rivian.com/emergency-response

MSDS are more frequently referred as SDS for the last few years. Prev poster is correct, every SDS I've seen refers to a chemical or chemical product/mixture or something that could easily break and spill chemicals that you might be exposed to.

Why do you need a SDS?

If there is a specific chemical or component you are interested in, let us know, I expect I could find a relevant SDS.

Did you find a SDS for a Tesla vehicle, or for a Tesla battery or some fluid or component in the vehicle? I don't see a SDS on Tesla's site, but mentions available upon request. If there is a SDS that refers to a complete car (which seems unlikely to me), can you link it here, I'd really like to see it. Would be interesting to see how they handled the chemical component description, etc, though may be marked proprietary. Or even an SDS for the batteries, would be interesting to see how much specific info is included about the chemicals present.

Today's safety topic:

Rivian R1T R1S MSDS ? is it available for R1T ? Where I could find it. 1649511142802

Bonus question: How do you remove a submerged vehicle from water without towing or transporting it?

There wouldn't be one MSDS for a product like this but a whole sheaf of them for the individual components for example one for the sulfuric acid in the 12V batteries, one for the glycol in the cooling loops etc. I have dealt with companies that make products that require a MSDS for each component be furnished to the consumer. Clearly the products of the auto idustry are not in this class.

Our company's OHSA program falls under my management role, I have an employee who takes care of the details. SDS is a mandate by OSHA. OSHA's mission is to protect and educate workers regarding safety. Employers must maintain an SDS library for all chemicals, solvents, etc. that are used on the job. In the strict OSHA interpretation, even common off the shelf consumer items like WD40 are supposed to be in the SDS library - we have an SDS for WD40, lol.

OSHA SDS requirements do not apply to items purchased by consumers. I think it's Consumer Product Safey Commission that regulates it. You can request SDS for a consumer product and they should make it available to you, but as a consumer, OSHA mandates generally don't apply. I'm pretty sure Rivian or any other manufacturer is under no obligation to provide individual SDS to consumers for either a finished product, or chemicals/liquids in the vehicle. It would be good customer relations for them to do so.

Veering off track, how about responders (ie to an auto accident) and shippers of the R1's? I guess the emergency response guide is enough?

I though this was kinda neat, seeing Rivian listed on a NFPA site

Coolant is probably shared by the battery, motors, electronics and interior heater-core is probably like a G-48 ethylene-glycol (used in Tesla and a lot of modern ICE vehicles) and is sold under a bunch of brands.

Drive units are probably something like ATF fluid since there’s no differential. Look at something like Dexron.

The suspension (ride height) is air, but the roll-control is hydraulic through the shocks themselves. Look at something like Pentosin or CHF11S used in modern Mercedes and I think McLaren.

Washer fluid and brake fluid are also going to be typical automotive products.

The detail on the MSDS for a particular fluid is probably not going to be a lot different from brand to brand for comparable p unless Rivian is using an altogether really odd product (highly unlikely).

Unfortunately, I know the answer to this question. Was out with my friends in my Dad's jeep when we decided it would be fun to take it through an area where they had started to cut some construction roads through the woods. The issue was we just had some heavy rains (17 yrs old and beer...seemed like a good idea at the time.) Well, we got trapped and had to try to back our way out. Hit a mud covered slope and slowly slide into a nice deep mudhole. It was late and our attempts to dislodge it were futile. Next morning, they called in a tow truck...first one said 'nope' and turned around. Next one said OK, but got stuck, so they had to bring in a truck with a crane used for tractor trailer accidents. Hooked that bad boy up and turned it on...after a bit of squealing and creaking...pop! The fact that it the jeep was submerged above the bottom of the doors meant there was a ton of suction. When the suction gave way, the jeep popped out and immediately swung up and into a tree! Would have been undamaged if not for that! Man, when I think back at some of the things I did as a kid!
