So just to point out, her title at Rivian will be VP, Chassis, Reliability and Attributes. So, not sure it's specifically "safety" that she will be working on.

Nothing assured, but from her current job title at Volvo "Vice President Volvo Cars Safety Centre" it would seem likely that her role at Rivian included some of that responsibility.

And although it it common for everyone at a new employer to welcome a new team member as if they are going to be working in the office next to theirs, this from the comments on LinkedIn reinforces the idea that she is likely to be involved in safety:

Looks like Rivian is going to put a bit more effort into making safer cars,
That's an unfounded statement. Do you have knowledge that Rivian is lacking in safety? Or perhaps the current person in charge of safety is more experienced than Ms. Ekholm (no reflection on her) and is assuming new responsibilities, retiring. etc?

It is not, and we do not have any knowledge of Rivian's Safety either, outside of their flashy marketing materials on their website.

The R1T has been out for about a year, and we still do not have official crash test ratings or it's driver safety system ratings, tested by IIHS.
And fortunately, none of our members have been in a place to have it tested either.

Right now, Rivian's safety and crash test rating is as a mystery as their production and allocation algorithm.

So, at least now we can be rest assured, that a person who has overseen the safety of a brand who has been synonymous with car safety, will be joining Rivian.

We do know of 2 pretty decent accidents in Irvine CA by Rivian employees where the drivers were not injured.

Not doubting you, considering we saw one crash post earlier in the forums that was apparently a T-bone and it looked beat up but the passenger cabin didn't seem that badly damaged (aside from cutting holes, which someone explained as possible way to open locked doors?)
