I SENT A TEXT with Rivian Assistant!!!!

Thank you! I finally sent a hands-free text from my Rivian!!! Just on poking around with the Rivian Assistant following yesterday's update, I am liking it a lot more than I thought. Nice to just say "Hey, Rivian" and have it activate. Used it to open and close the garage door, open Apple music, adjust the music volume, check my calendar, etc. Looking forward to giving it a real-world break-in this weekend (several trips slated).

Set up was easy; it went fast. Nothing was clunky or junky about the interactions.

I was impressed ed it knew what "Open the frunk" meant. I'll be interested to see if "Open driver's side chunnel door" works.

It worked well when I said "find my best route home" But not so great when I said "route me to the Ionna charger in Oklahoma City". First time it tried an Ionna charger near Dallas (where I live). I finally got it to find the right location and it routed me without charging stops. I also tried to get it to route me to a local location without tolls and it said it can't do that. Not sure why not, you can exclude toll roads in the nav with a push of a button. Baby steps.

I still haven’t figured out how to send/receive text messages. I haven’t spent a ton of time trying to figure it out, but it seems like everyone else had no issues?

I still haven’t figured out how to send/receive text messages. I haven’t spent a ton of time trying to figure it out, but it seems like everyone else had no issues?

Under my devices, I had to go tap the (...) then enable Sync Messages and Upload Contacts. From there, once I said "Hey, Rivian... send a text to _____." then the it would respond. I have an Android phone; there is an extra step or two for iOS.

Dang... I couldn't get the garage command to work when I tried, assumed it wasn't capable. I'll have to give it another go... I was parked in the dang driveway.

With my google pixel I had to futz with it a bit before it started working. The assistant could see my contacts but said I needed to enable a setting in my bluetooth for the Rivian device connection that wasn't there. Later on, I got an android system notification, something about messages, when it reconnected to the truck, I cycled the bleutooth one more time on the truck and then it started working.

Confirmed; "bonnet" works. So does "front trunk". And as dark-fx noted, "hood".
