I sold my gen1 2023 R1T after 2 years. I loved it but felt like it was falling behind on features, specifically the self driving features were useless unless on the highway. Also, the suspension issues reported by others on the forum was not reassuring. Now, looking at the used market prices, I am glad I sold my R1T when I did.

I have an order for R2, but lack of self driving features are a deal breaker for me at this point given what competitors are doing. Also, the fact that Rivian didn't support new features on the gen1 is not reassuring. I had a 2020 Tesla loaner the other week with the older hardware 3 and the self driving was actually usable from point A to point B. By contrast, my 2023 R1T couldn't even keep the truck in the center of the lane on an interstate.

I've been expecting to replace my LE R1S around the 4 year mark when the original warranty expires, but so far I haven't had any major issues with it that have required shop time, so I could see keeping it longer if that stays the case. The price of the R1S has gone up so much since LE I can't justify getting another, but I'm keeping a close eye on the R2 and other new models coming out this year and will probably start shopping as they hit the market. The one thing I will not be doing this time is ordering sight unseen - a proper hands-on comparison and test drive will have to come first. If that means I keep the R1S for a year or two more than expected, I'm fine with it.

We are almost three years into our R1T experience. We have really loved Opal (our R1T) and she continues to serve us well.

We just replaced our main Airstream tow vehicle with a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Duramax. We are waiting for an EV truck that has the range that we need for cross continent Airstream Travel.

I'll hold out for a Gen 3 R1T and purchase it and hold onto it for a long time.

Just means leasing was the right move there. Mine is the same way. Residual is in the is $44.7k on a '24 Dual Motor/Large pack with a few options. I've got 20mo left on mine, and I could go buy a quad motor '24 with the same options for about that price.

Leasing was definitely the way to go.

Two more years on the lease, R1S Tri-Motor then I'll probably replace with the same, or maybe downsize to R2.

Probably till I pick up an R3X. Then i'll evaluate if it becomes a sometimes-utility vehicle or a trade-in. Though I suppose if a Gen3 R1T came out with updated battery chemistry (likely solid state), I'm enough of a tech nerd that might lure to that instead.

I plan on keeping this thing until the wheels fall off. I crossed into the great beyond recently over the 60k mark but have had pretty minimal issues. I did purchase an additional extended warranty because dampers are my main culprit because I like to off-road but the truck has held up well. This thing has taken me to places I’d never imagine and plan on taking it more places in the future!

I bought my 23 R1S because I wanted a bigger vehicle to haul my family and gear on adventures in a capable EV. It is an amazing vehicle, but also the most expensive that I have owned by far.

When my son goes to college in a couple of years I will have to think hard about whether to keep it or downsize into one of the incredible midsize EVs that will be on the market by then (including R2).

If the Scout meets all of my requirements (Harvester/range/other details aren't completely clear yet), then I'll sell the Rivian when my Scout becomes available.

If it doesn't, I'll probably go back to a non-EV and get something like a Lexus GX550 or LX700 Overtrail.

I keep toying with trading in for a gen 2 but i think comma answers lane-stay issues. And I keep realizing I could find myself in a constant upgrade/update cycle. So I will hold on to my Gen 1 until 2033 barring any major issues.

Will flip our 2026 R1S Dual Max for the Gen 3 R1S Quad as soon as it gets good reviews (or demonstrates the current manufacturing kinks have been ironed out.)

R2 is too small for my liking. Wanted a Quad this go round but having never owned an EV, I wanted to see how important the extra range was in practice. Not that important.

If I can find a used Gen 1 CY R1T Quad with paint in excellent condition, work bonus should cover picking that up after March. Will be nice to not have to switch between ICE and EV now that I know we like EVs and Rivian.

Yea, I'm REALLY curious about the Scouts, they're really the 1 main thing I can think of to replace my R1T. R2 is also a contender.

Yea, I'll replace the R1S. I still intend to get an R3X as my 2nd car.
