Oh cool. Let us know how it works. Ideally I'd like to get it a month or so before delivery of my R1T so I can be able to charge the truck.
I'll tell you that this is not the current plan that Rivian has. My charger was not delayed or backordered, this is the schedule they have decided on. They want the charger and accessories paid for before you get them, so they send them once the purchase process is complete.

What happened to the qmerit installation program? Weren’t they partnering with someone to get this done? This is not great news for those of us with mere 110v outlets in our garages.

Then, ideally, people should be able to decouple the purchase of the EVSE from the purchase of the vehicle in order to get the charger sooner and get started on the installation prior to vehicle delivery. However, the gear shop says the EVSE is "coming soon" so that doesn't appear to be an option at the moment.

Makes me glad I went ahead and had a ChargePoint installed back at the end of 2020. Unfortunately it's still hanging there unused waiting for my R1S delivery.

It is still a thing (but more costly than securing your own electrician in my experience), they just won't be able to install it until you actually get it.

As you pointed out, you can do that by purchasing the Wall Charger through the Gear Shop at any time, assuming it is in stock (it currently isn't). Some members of this forum were able to purchase one when the shop first opened so "Coming Soon" appears to just mean "Out of Stock".

The other consideration is that the gear shop price is higher than the cost (original) of adding it on to the vehicle purchase, correct? $500 vs. $650 or something?

Ideally, although my guess is they won't be in stock in the gear shop anytime soon. Rivian probably wants to make sure that those taking actual delivery of the vehicles are able to purchase the charger without significant delays.

I just (like literally 2 min. ago) got off the phone with my Guide. You aren't going to believe me, but he said there is a truck in the plant right now with my name on it! He isn't exactly sure what stage it is in, but he is going to try and hunt it down! Delivery in 4-6 weeks!
Congrats.

Where were you in the pre-order and how long from configuration?

Has anyone gotten the rivian branded home charger? I’m wondering if that’ll ever be sold or if it’ll be dropped as a product
I just saw a photo of someone receiving one today as well.

I'm not sure this is the answer you're looking for, but pre-order was over three years ago, and I never changed my config from the day the configurator was avalable.

That's a bummer for folks relying on it. I wonder why they don't offer to pay for the accessories by CC at the time of the first guide contact to clear that hurdle earlier.

Yeah, they were more expensive before. Since they are out of stock, it doesn't show the current price.

I don't know. It seemed like the plan was to have the accessories in hand before delivery, but that changed recently. I assume someone in finance had an issue with sending out thousands of dollars of accessories to people who haven't paid for them. Though, as I type this, I realized that we did put down $1,000 which could have been converted into some sort of security deposit...

I plan on buying a second non-rivian, non-tesla EV next year. I just finished install of a charge point flex at my cabin. My office uses charge point. For home the Rivian one is cheaper at $500, but I'm wondering if it's worth it to just get another charge point now so that I can do the electrical work ahead of time and also just have one charging app to deal with.

I'm supposed to receive my wall charger today as well.
