My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Hello fellow dijon mustard lovers.

I just noticed something incredibly bizarre and need a sanity check. Truck is a '26 Gen 2 (obviously) and got the Rivian Autonomy update when S/W 2025.46.x dropped a few weeks back.

My truck - again, G2 - installed 46.0. G2 always installs .30 - or so I thought.

It is now asking to install 46.30.

I'm gonna do it, because I live on the edge. But would be keenly interested to see if anyone else saw similar behavior.

I think this is a subsequent update because of some of the bugs users have been experiencing, they had stopped the updates going out for a bit there.

Thanks - core of the question though is why .0 was pushed to a G2 in the first place.

AFAIK there is no exclusive release number for Gen 2 vehicles, they just often have subsequent versions to fix bugs and release a .30 version.

Huh, weird. Sounds reasonable, and I guess .30 only rolls out to Gen2s, .0 can roll out to G1 or G2. I had it in my head that Gen2 only received .30 and never .0.

Crazy pills avoided, for now at least. Thanks.

They merged the G1/G2 releases a few updates back, that is when the .0 started going to G2 vehicles.

My gen2 doesn't have the current problem where L2 charge speed is limited. I did get hit by the previous cold weather issue though.

You, good sir, are sane (for now). For some time, Gen2 received .30 and Gen1 got .0 then very recently, they changed it and both Gen1 and Gen2 both got .0 and now it looks like .30 is just for Gen2 bug fix (for this current update).

I’m confused as to if I was hit or not (or had/have a variation of it): with 46.0 our gen2 would charge 8A on level2 when the off peak charging schedule was active but it was outside of off peak hours - and then would ramp up to 48A when actually off peak. ie it was charging when I think it shouldn’t have been, but doing so at a very low rate (and was unable to change from 8A in the UI). I just moved it back to manually managed between 9pm to 6am - is this what folks with the bug were seeing, or it was it permanently capped to 8A?

Install it IMMEDIATELY… i mean right now, stop whatever you are doing and install that update.

The original “very rare issue” is what hit my truck and caused the memory on the BMS to get wiped. 1.5 weeks in and still no truck.

Just downloaded myself. About 1GB. Gonna see how long it takes to install. Did anyone install it yet? I have a drive coming up tonight and want to know if I can afford enough time to install it beforehand.

FYI - you can force your car to check for update, and download it by just “locking” it from the Rivian app. It wakes up car, and checks for update. Method works for me for last several updates. (Ofc your car needed to have been flagged for update first)
