September 2020 is an extremely late LE preorder. Are those people being contacted people who reserved before you? No real reason it should go by delivery window instead or pre-order date.
Yes, I've seen people on this forum with delivery windows and order dates past me, but had OC interiors, stating they were contacted and offered a switch to BM. I'd have to go digging to find who they were, I didn't take notes.

I have not seen someone with a November 2020 reservation date say they have talked with a guide. I would also be highly suspect of that, and nearly everyone on this forum would be up in arms.

Just trying to set reasonable expectations. There’s not going to be much sympathy for complaints that a 2018 reservation is being given options before a 2020 reservation.

I put down $2000 for an R1T and R1S on November 27th of 2018 and finally got a Rivian Guide to reach out to me. Talked to them yesterday and they reached out to me specifically because I selected the Ocean Coast interior they wanted me to know that unless I change to the Black Mountain it may be another 6 months to a year of waiting. He really could not lock down that timeframe. So I changed to the Black Mountain interior option with the Rivian Blue. Honestly disappointed but will put up with it. I wanted the lighter interior as where I live in San Diego the summers can get very hot, will be cooling down the truck from their app a LOT!

Now I am told it will be 1st or 2nd week of April to take delivery so that is AMAZING news!

I also ordered the camp kitchen, turns out those don't exist. As in outside a few demo units they do not exist. The guide has never seen one in person. Also there are zero reviews of them online from anyone but Rivian. I was promised a price lock for $5k on that when they become available. Attaching newest spec sheet.

Just done chatting with customer support, my R1S has estimated delivery date of June/July 2022 with Ocean Coast. Customer support said my R1S delivery estimation is based on Ocean Coast option and there is no change due to my choice

I'm seeing this from a posiy angle. I now have a little control over when m truck is delivered. All I have to do is switch interior colors. Fortunately I prefer OC and am totally fine with a delayed delivery. 2023 would be better for taxes anyway.

I've seen people with delivery windows later than me and order dates later than me get contacted about switching to BM as reported on these forums. And I'm near the service center that has probably delivered more R1s than any other. So no, they are not going in order.
Maybe they’re going in order based on personality or CS contact experience… jk!

One of our own has this, and I’ve seen plenty of others close in Fall 2020.

The preorder process for launch editions took place in November 2020, even if you placed a deposit earlier. this doesn’t clarify when the initial deposit was placed.
I think they were pretty clear. Even ignoring that, plenty of July and Aug 2020 people with guide contacts in that thread by just scanning a few pages.

Had the same conversation yesterday with my guide so I also switched to black interior, also looks like I should be taking delivery in April as well. I ordered January 2019

I was contacted last Thursday (March 17) and told I could be in my R1T "by the end of the month" (?) if I switched from Ocean Coast to the black interior. This was the first call I received from my Guide so I was pleased to have gotten at least that far along - I have a Guide! I declined the offer of the black interior (just a matter of personal choice). My Guide said something to the effect that he did not have any information on the timeline for the production of Ocean Coast interiors or that there were none in production at present - sorry but I do not recall his statement exactly. As a poiint of reference, I live in the Atlanta area and placed my order for a Launch Edition R1T on July 31, 2020. I have been given a July-September delivery window.

It is great to see that some Rivians have been spotted in the greater Metro-Altanta area. And my FIrst Mile drive is scheduled for Thursday, March 24. I am excited about the opportunity to see a Rivian up close and personal.

I got this call today (second call from my contact) as well but they told me I could get the truck this week with the black interior or I could wait a few weeks and that my delivery was still by the end of April.

One more complaint about all the different answers everyone is getting from CS and guides. This is pissing even me off, and I've generally had a lot of patience for this type of stuff. If non-BM interiors are delayed, tell everyone and give us all an opportunity to switch based on order date, not based on your sorted order of production that assumed there would be no delays for us non-BM selectors.

Frustrating to see Rivian bungling this as well. The right thing to do is very easy to identify - just revert back to order date/location and contact people in order, regardless of what interior they had selected.
Totally agree. Rivian needs a professional staff to manage their communication and pre-orders for them. It looks as if pre-orderers are being contacted randomly not according to their order dates. If there is shortage of anything which may affect many customers, then why not let everybody know so they can adjust their configuration? Thanks to our members, we are learning a lot about what’s going on, not from Rivian, and it’s beyond frustrating at this point.

It seems to me that their order of contact is based on their proposed production schedule. Not every OC order has a pre-order date before mine, for example, but thus far only OC interiors are getting contacted about swapping to BM.
I am kind of hoping that they were able to figure out which order is yours and just purposefully holding it back based on the way you treat people.

Luckily for me, the world doesn't work according to your whims :)
