98% support it, but nowhere near 98% of customers use it. I understand not wanting to rely on CarPlay or Android Auto, due to their limitations and still frequent issues. However, Android Automotive seems like the best mix of built in app support and better mapping/routing, voice assistant and...
Exactly why I use Chromecast. Literally anything on my hone or any other device can be on my projector. All voice controlled. Updated regularly. Platform agnostic.
Polestar did it right.
I'm referring to the update from WWDC where CarPlay takes over the entire vehicle. My Bolt has compatibility with CarPlay, but the processing is taking place on a phone. I don't have to have my whole car Applified, and can instead use Android Auto.
Android Automotive is a much more flexible...
The idea of a bunch of cars with the same cartoonishly bad Apple UI is a pretty depressing dystopian future.
Rivian definitely should have used Android Automotive though, unless they plan on quickly rolling out more apps (map routing on phone transferred to vehicle, Netflix/YouTube/prime...
Would 100% avoid any car that has this CarPlay built in. The last thing I want is the sticky hand of Apple reaching me through my car. Give me open source Android Automotive any day, where OEs can customize the UX and it's compatible with all devices. The closed ecosystem model and the practice...
It's the best color. I just can't justify another $3500 on top of the camp kitchen. Limestone is my compromise, since it can be every color depending on yhow ou look at it, lol.
I'd agree. My use case just aligns more with that 35% that the Rivian nails. For $50k you're looking at a full sized truck with a 230 mile range and more limi off road ability. I'm looking for a road trip, adventure off roader. Rivian is damn near perfect for me, other than not having Android...
My kids were quite happy with the comfort of the back seat in the R1T, even with 3 across.
For me, the pick-up bed is the reason I'm interested. Electric SUVs are getting to be somewhat common. Sure the R1S is the most off road capable and is pretty cool, but fundamentally you're not getting...
These kinds of comparisons are what we need more of. I have a slate grey Chevy Bolt and hope to see a comparison with that soon. I think it would likely be very similar.
I'm sure they do, but it seems like they could be more intentional about getting feedback. If nothing else it would increase customer engagement and make us feel heard.
