78 seems harsh. Hope other fixes help..

Did you do both inside and outside door frames, and the seal on the insides of the tracks of the windows?
I have added additional seals on the frame and door. They made some difference. I had tubing to seal top of the door and I tried around the inside of the windows but it would get caught up occasionally and didn’t seem to make much difference.
I am using decibel meter app on iPhone. Curious what others are using as I wonder how accurate my readings are.

Okay, yes, that's pretty much what I would do as well. I think the variances in gap at the seams in the sunroof and/or windshield corners, is what is causing all this noise, per my observation. Even in the same vehicle.

I have Android and use an app called Sound Meter.

If anyone is having wind noise from the top of the windshield 8mm uxcell rubber tubing fit mine perfectly. I had also bought the T shaped seal but wasn’t a fan of the look.

Did it fix the wind noise?

I put the 8mm round tubing around the inside of my driver's side window seals this week and I think I have finally resolved 99% of my wind noise after 2+ years and multiple attempts

Can you elaborate with pictures would be great. I have tried all kinds of things spent over $100 on material and still no big difference.

I think mine is coming from the windshield but there was no leak when I tired to pressure wash that area.

Thanks in advance.

Someone shared this video with me and I used it as a guide. The majority of noise I was experiencing seemed to be related to door and/or window seals near the top of the door and the smaller triangle window (which service has replaced twice already). This eliminated it.

Made this as a separate entry, in case anyone is looking for details.

With air conditioner on (cool), fan level 2, Seat cool on (level 1), below are the sound meter observations-

~62dB at 65mph
~64dB at 70mph
~67dB at 75mph
~69dB at 80mph

There is still a small amount of wind sorta noise ('whoosh' sound) that you can hear above 80mph, which I attribute to any/all of the following

- tires (i have the 21")
- something on the sunroof side

I guess the wheel wells' sound deadeners would probably help cut off some of this noise, but not all of it. Again, just my hypothesis.

I wanted to provide some updates here. But I was not happy with the wind noise above 75 mph even with previous fixes and majority was coming from windshield /sunroof area on passenger side. So I removed the T shaped magnetic strip and just stuck uxcell rubber seal (4/5/6mm) in the seams above. I believe this has definitely helped.

I re did the sound readings again today. There was rain when these readings weee done here in NJ, so it may have affected the readings (but not sure how much). I only did 70mph+

70 mph = between 67 and 69dB
75 mph = between 73 and 75 dB
81 mph = between 75 and 79 dB
87mph = ~82dB

The gap where the sunroof is connected on the inside seems to have some variances w.r.t gap between the roof and headliner area. I'm going to see if the sunroof cover is of any help

...to be continued

Can you review this thread and let me and others know what areas you are looking to tackle? I'm pretty sure I have added as many pictures of areas where I have added the various seals etc.

That's great!

Variances in each vehicle it looks like. For me, 6mm was more than sufficient and I had to remove and add 5 mm in some areas.

This is great information as I have tried this as well and can hear a difference. My question is, have you shared this with Rivian by chance, and if so - what was their reaction to this information?

All my information is shared only here.. There is some belief that some Rivian employees read the threads here and if it is the case, we can only hope the info here is helpful on some level.

This is precisely what I was looking for. I'm coming from a BMW X3 M40i to the R1T and while this unit it's not "noisy", its just a tiny tad bit louder than the BMW was (I measured when test driving the unit, and it was 71db for BMW and 73db for the R1T at 75mph on the same road stretch).

I would love to get down to the mid or low 60's at those speeds! I will start playing with this during the long weekend! :)

Thanks!
