What are the replacement windshield costing from Rivian? Does Rivian Insurance cover this?
Rivian (Nationwide) insurance has no special provisions for glass just because it’s a Rivian. However, what glass protection you’re eligible for varies from state to state, which is no different than any other insurance provider. There are a few states that mandate that the vehicle insurance cover windshield damage at 100%. PA isn’t one of them. ?

Even if it is not required by the state, you may be able to get a glass rider added to your policy. This has been totally worth it to me here in Arizona. I've already had two rock chips repaired on my R1T, fully covered. When I filed the claim, they said the windshield would be replaced 100% covered and no deductible if it could not be repaired.

I asked this question, and was told over 1K, but I haven’t seen the work order for approval yet as I dropped it off on Saturday. I should know more tomorrow.
Can’t speak to Rivian insurance
Replacement cost is roughly 1800
Yep, was just quoted 1,900 for the replacement.

State Farm in Georgia and I have the full comp coverage. It is covered 100 percent. I picked up a chip 2 weeks ago and it has not spider cracked yet. I am waiting it out as I have the windshield ceramic tinted. I doubt they cover it and I forgot to ask. Hope it holds but rather the windshield than my wife sitting behind it...lol

And, now you can add me to the windshield replacement group! Wife is driving and just sent me a text that she took a big rock!

Too bad insurance probably won't cover the tint.

I will be taking delivery on friday 11/11 and I signed up with the rivian insurance provider nationwide.
They have said to me at the time that all safety glass is covered without any deductibles, 100 percent coverage. Which was the reason I decided to go with their insurance as price was very similar to the other insurance companies.
I hope it was true as I didn't have time to check the policy yet.

I had a similar experience. Heard a loud smack right on the glass. Didn't see a smudge after. I was very concerned though by the way it sounded.
Last week I took what sounded like the hardest hit I have ever taken to a windshield, and I have replaced or repaired several on prior vehicles. It sounded like it hit in front of the rear view mirror, and I fully expected to see at least a chip or crack when I stopped to check. Nothing. Guess I got lucky this time.
I also took a really loud rock hit to the R1T windshield last weekend on an interstate, but luckily no visible damage. I've had other windshields crack in the past when I barely heard the hit, so I'm resigned to believing that a crack randomly depends on how and where the rock hits the windshield. It's just so damn tiring to drive with my fingers crossed all the time.

New York is one of the states where auto insurers must provide 100% glass coverage with $0 deductible. I seem to remember that New Jersey was the same way when I lived there many years ago, but I don't know what the status is now.

Hey all, living this early adopter life with a R1T. We got a cracked windshield in the panhandle of FL last week. It's grown to 15" and the windshield needs replaced. FL is a zero cost windshield replacement state. Rivian doesn't have any certified replacement centers (in FL) within 300 mi of my home. I was told my options are:
1. Pay $1900 out of pocket and get my truck to a certified collision repair service 3 hours away
2. Get my insurance to tow to truck to a certified to said certified collision repair service

According to the 3rd party rep I talked to: The regional windshield replacement company applied months ago to get Rivian certification to recalibrate sensors and has got no response from Rivian. I have engaged both customer service and my Guide to try to bridge the service gap for Gulf Coast Rivian owners.

What I have been told is that Rivian has proprietary calibration software,. hardware and thus training required to replace a windshield.

If anyone from @Rivian collision centers monitors this thread, please, can we get additional companies certified to replace R1T windshields in places between certified collision centers?

If FL is a zero cost replacement state & you have no reasonable means of getting your windshield replaced, it seems like a call to your state insurance commission is in order. Your insurance company wrote the policy on your truck knowing the law in FL, it seems like it’s up to them to figure this out for you.

I dropped my truck off at the service center today to have a few items taken care of, and the Rivian service advisor cautiously said, “you picked up rock in your windshield. Did that happen today?”. I calmly asked them to add the windshield replacement to the list.

He was correct when he noted that I was in the best possible place to have discovered the issue. The sore spot is that I asked for windshield protection film when I had the PPF and quartz put on the truck - the film was backordered. I guess this first windshield will have to go after only 2.5 months!

Rivian insurance offers glass replacement with 0 deductible. I reason the extra $5/month it cost is much cheaper than any preventative options. They were the only insurance provider I could find that still did entire windshield replacements without a deductible.

Glass insurance n00b question here. All my replacements have been in SC or FL where insurance covers everything with no deductible, and on Honda windshields that are easy to find and quick to replace.

I have a $100 comprehensive deductible with USAA in WA state. If I get damage the requires a full replacement, is this covered? And how bad will it hurt my insurance to claim it? I assume it'll have to be done by Rivian, because "IP."

I live in CO and also have the USAA $100 deductible. I typically get a new windshield every year or every other year if I’m lucky and it doesn’t get cracked/ pitted. I can’t speak to any differences with it being a Rivian windshield since I don’t have my truck yet, but in the past all I did was decide my windshield needed to be replaced, then schedule with a local shop that works with USAA to get it done. USAA has a partnership with Safelite but I’ve been able to go wherever I like.

From my experience because I’m paying for the extra glass policy it has never affected my overall rate. In fact I think it says I could get 2 windshields per year if I remember correctly.
