I really don't understand the tire options on the R1 refresh line. The base model tires are 22" sport tires instead of the old 21" road tire which gives you an estimated 330 miles of range with the dual large battery. But for just $1,000 extra you can get the 22" range tires which gives you the same range? Is there just no rela world data on this yet to show what the difference is at all? Can you add either of these to an existing R1 and get a range difference? On the previous build there was a range difference shown from 21" to 22" if I remember right.

Rivian only did EPA tests on one 22" option. I'm guessing that the reported range is on the 22" sport wheels/tires (considering it's depicted on the testing documents) and that the aero ones will actually be better, but they can't advertise it that way since it wasn't officially tested.

The real question is what is the new 22in tire that is getting that range. If you check the gear shop the 22s have a label of Gen 1 only so that implies that there are changes.. Probably in the tires.

Has anyone tested the range / efficiency of a Gen2 max pack with 21" wheels?
