I just confirmed my configuration and probably won’t get my truck till sometime late next year but still wanted to double check my measurements in the garage to make sure it’ll fit.

It looks like I have about 4” to spare. That’s cutting it close however, I also thought about maybe angling it in. That’ll give me extra room.. there’s enough clearance, height wise that it won’t interfere with the garage door mechanism.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it will fit in. I could park it outside, but I’d rather use the garage.

With the cameras and radar, 4" clearance would be enough for me.

Whether or not it's enough for you is up to you :)

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
I back mine in and stuff it against the wall on the passenger side. My wife has the i3 right next to it, and the stair entry eats up some room but leaves me adequate space for two of the many bikes.

It fits - just comes down to your comfort level squeezing it into a small space. But for me, it’s worth the tradeoffs since I have cypress in the front which like to destroy my cars if left outside.

I think I’ll be OK. It will be a tight though . I’ll experiment with driving in straight, backing in or at an angle.

I just took some cooking twine, drywall screw, and an old tennis ball. Hung it at the height of the camera and distance from the wall. Took about 3 minutes
That works too! That laser is nice because it creates 2 lines. It can help you side to side and in front. I have a tight garage too.

My dad put up a tennis ball for my mom’s car in the early 70’s so she wouldn’t drive in too far and hit the garage wall lol

I took a 2” square tube. The old lady drives in til her tires contact the tube. And she’s parked.

I have an R1T on order and based on measurements, the truck should fit... technically. Around 8" to spare lengthwise, and I'll have to park right up against the passenger wall, which I already have to do with my Model 3 to make room for my wife's Ascent which shares the 2-car space.

But I still have two challenges:

1) I have to take a 90-degree turn to get into my garage. And I have to pull in nose-first otherwise I'll have to climb out the passenger door. Maneuvering will be tricky but the 360-degree camera view should make this painless.

2) My 14-50 outlet would be located on the opposite corner of my truck when parked this way. It is near the garage door on the passenger wall. Based on the measurements a 25' cable won't reach the charge port unless it's diagonal underneath the truck. Anybody know of a good 240V charger with a longer cable?

Worst case I can relocate the 240V outlet I suppose, it's dropped down from the attic and the attic space is over the entire garage.

For what it’s worth, the community is really awesome and I actually met people on here in my neighborhood who brought the Rivian over to my house and parked it in my garage so I could confirm the fit!

Yeah, I've been thinking about the parking space as I'm looking at getting an R1T, looks like ~217", so that would just fit into the 222-224" wall to door clearance position (got big storm/wind reinforcements on the door so it loses about 6-7" on the interior.

Whew!

Right now, I go back first with a Tesla M3P on the left, and front first with a Wrangler 4xe on the right, which puts both charge ports about 3-4 feet apart right up close to the EVSE. They're both right around 188" (length).

The thing is: our garage is split 50/50, on the left (facing into the garage) the rear is a wall, but on the right, there's an 8" step up to an open landing area, so if I swapped sides with the Jeep, I could sort of hang some of an R1T over the landing area (if that makes sense), leaving plenty of space to move around it or the Jeep. That side is where the hoist is for Jeep top, but it's up high enough where there shouldn't be any issues pulling an R1T in and under it, just as easy as the Jeep.

Answering my own question about charging cord reach - I found a few extension cords on Amazon, but Lectron makes 20/40 ft 240V/40A extension cables and they are a reputable company.

With the 20ft extension I could charge anywhere in the garage or driveway.

I had some 3" wide bright yellow tape around from another project and decided to see how it would work as a center-line guide for parking. So far so good. I just line up the backup display's white line with the yellow tape line on my floor and I'm able to get consistent parking.

I'm in the same boat. I wished I liked the R1S as it would have been a much better fit for my garage. I had the F-150 Lightning and it absolutely would not fit in the garage. The Rivian, I have to pull within an inch of the front wall / door that's there. It's quite tight and a bit annoying to have to be so careful every time I have to pull into the garage. I put a tall cardboard box that I have with the flap opened up in the doorway in front. I use the camera to see the box. As soon as I hit the box, I know to stop. Was thinking about adding the old tennis ball to the ceiling instead.
