Yeah that's why I'm surprised nobody is putting one up on BAT. It's the best place for a buyer like this to sell the truck. They make it so easy and you have a massive audience. It's the opposite of posting in enthusiast forums.
+1, see sold FE Broncos and below current MY Hummer and Taycan listings. BaT is way different since Hearst Autos purchased BaT in June 2020, where it is now the correct marketplace for this type of thing. Buyers rarely need a trailer anymore, but they need to bring their wallets. You'll still get some backlash there from the OG's, but the genie is outta the bottle.

No Reserve: 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 for sale on BaT Auctions - ending April 1 (Lot #69,506) | Bring a Trailer

2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo for sale on BaT Auctions - ending April 3 (Lot #69,646) | Bring a Trailer

Exactly. Why would you advertise a Rivian to a Rivian forum when you could put it up there where a Hummer EV is already at $200k with 4 days left?

No better place to let drunk rich people get in to a bidding war over your truck than BAT. And we all know the first person to do it is going to make the most.

Because nobody here is going to pay $145k for a Rivian when they can get one for below the new sticker price if they just wait a few months for theirs to come in.
I believe that true for you and for myself who pre-ordered years ago. But I also know a lot of people (with a lot of disposable income) who are just hearing about the R1T/R1S now and have no problem paying double to not be placed in the back of the line. As a matter of fact, I know someone who bought a Model Y last week for 1.5x cost because they decided they wanted one and didnt want to wait until 2023.

Do you not believe this board would come up for someone searching "rivian" in google?

Seems like the perfect place to list it.

There are many registered users (and non-registered lurkers) who likely do not have a pre-order, so there is a small market I would say. They're likely also not vocally expressing interest and just PM'ing OP directly.

I hadn't heard of BAT though, thanks for that - always curious to learn more about car buying and selling.

I'll bite. Proponents correctly would say that no one is forcing a buyer to pay overmarket. It is voluntary arbitrage. Same can be said that an owner should not be encumbered after purchase, it is their property. No argument from me there.

However, on this enthusiast site specifically:

1) There are a ton of buyers and early depositors here patiently waiting for their Rivians, and are more concerned with that outcome than gouging the next guy in a seller's market,

2) There are a ton of shareholders here. I'll not explain this one further unless some pirate wants a definition.

3) Rivian just went through one of it's most "painful mistakes" as described by RJ himself, and chose to honor early depositors pricing in an effort to do the right thing by its most loyal customers over short-term economic cost. You can disagree and correctly call this a sheitshow, but you're basically gouging both Rivian and the next guy.

4) You signed a purchase contract expressly seeking to limit flipping in a market anomaly. Yea, yea it's perhaps not enforceable, neither is being an ass.

5) There are way better avenues for this type of sale.

6) Discretion is the better part of valor.

People are annoyed at this kind of thing for the same reason they are annoyed at ticket scalpers: They show up to buy a thing they donā€™t even want to make a buck.

I actually donā€™t care what you do, but the bit in the first post about being a long time ā€œsupporterā€ of the forum is disingenuous garbage. Donā€™t pretend to be another one of us, just be real about being a profiteer.
