Free Tonneau Timeline??

I leased my ‘23 R1T last June and was given a “free tonneau cover” as part of my deal to be installed “at a later date”.

Has anyone else received the same offer? If so, have you had it installed? How long was the wait? I realize they’ve had issues with these and are apparently on Gen 3 of them, but I’d sure like to get mine sooner than later.

I would ask for a credit it they haven't done it by now.

You have to be proactive making the request to service for this, not a good look for them I know. I also got my truck in June, my original appointment was October, but then they hit a part shortage. Filed another service ticket and now booked for March.

Took delivery of my truck in May. Originally scheduled to get the cover installed in October but ran into parts shortage and was moved to November. You have to initiate it.

You have to press them a bit to get it done. Log a service ticket and let them know that other folks from the same delivery time have gotten them installed and you were told by the end of 2024, which obviously has passed.

I was in the same boat.

Same here. I took delivery of a '23 in June and I pressed them to install it when I brought my truck in for service at the very end of last year. They said it may take a few weeks (and it did) but they did it. I just added it as another issue to my ticket.

Yeah, took delivery in mid August, waited until early December to call & inquire. Dropped it off at the SC this past Tuesday.

I feel if I hadn't called, I'd still be waiting.

Welp, you all were right! I should expect a call from the "Tonneau Installation Team" within 24-48 hours to schedule. Kinda annoying that this was a self-initiated thing, but I will be glad to have the use of the truck bed when I'm not around.

I had the same experience - deliver last September, they would “get back to me” when I could get the cover… I was on the phone last week about the 12v battery recall, and since I had them on the line, I asked about the tonneau cover. After some checking on their end. They realized that I was due, so I have an installation scheduled - for April. Definitely not a good look for them, but it’s coming to my truck. To replace the piece of plywood I cut for the meantime.

moral of the story: be proactive, as others on this thread have said. They were very polite and helpful on the call, so go for it. Just don’t get in line at west Sacramento in front of me!! :cool:

I had a 7,500 mile maintenance and a repair for some water in my front-facing camera scheduled for March 18th and they said they would just install the tonneau while they have it.

Seems like it will be the 2nd version though... Hope that doesn't come back to bite me.

Tech said it would take about 3 hours to install.

I had to reach out to them to get on the schedule. July 2024 delivery. I called them in December and got an appointment last week. Dropped off the truck in the morning and it was ready the next day by 10am.
Don't wait for them to call you, reach out yourself and get placed on the calendar.

I took delivery in March 2024 on a 23 R1T with PTC to be installed. Experienced three delays but eventually got it installed in November. The November service appointment might have been delayed too if I hadn’t pushed them to keep it. Like others said, be the squeaky wheel. The service centers are overwhelmed with work and will happily delay optional work if the think there are no issues.
