What you're asking for is Carplay/Android Auto ;)

But seriously, this is partly why those interfaces exist, so everyone's favorite music app will just work and Rivian doesn't have to keep adding more one by one. My favorite right now is Plexamp, and I'm pretty sure that'll never get on their radar.
It's not exactly the same. CP/AA uses Bluetooth. Bluetooth is a lossy medium and USB playback is significantly better than BT, even for compressed sources.

I don't know about Carplay but, Android Auto very much isn't using Bluetooth for music, I primarily used it wired which everything indicates is a lossless setup (app/source depending of course)

I have wired AA experience and it won't work at all when BT is off. Idk if it's using it for music streaming.

Apparently it still uses it for calling, why it "needs" it for everything else to work is a little odd though.

This thread seems to have a lot of whining about things that are just settings or a lack of understanding. Read some documentation. Spend five minutes optimizing things. And post one suggests it’s safe to be fiddling with the screen way over to the right instead of using voice commands??
Typically disingenuous post from you...
No one said it's safer than voice commands, and your own post showed your phone screen mounted as you say "in your eye line" so you are not really suggesting voice commands, either.

It beggars belief to think that a UI designed for use in-car on a large screen with large touch targets would be less safe than a tiny two-hand optimized UI mounted behind the steering wheel. So yes, I AM suggesting that a native browse UI would be safer than using your phone, regardless of where it's mounted.

The only person who consistently shows a lack of understanding is you. Rather than dismissively suggesting everyone else are idiots who don't understand, perhaps you should spend 5 minutes thinking about what everyone else is discussing before posting to crap all over it.

Wireless CarPlay uses both Bluetooth and a special-purpose wifi connection. It uses BT to establish presence (i.e. to know your phone is in the car), and Wifi to transfer data.

I'd be happy just to get the album art to show up on the car... that metadata is standard in the modern protocols.

Or you could choose to realize that I actually did make a helpful suggestion that you learn how to use the things that are already built in that people are asking for, but don’t know are built-in. And I absolutely do use the phone UI when it is safe to use That’s why it’s mounted there.

I had a single DIN head unit in 2002 which allowed me to traverse my iPod music library. But time marches on. For better or for worse, streaming is the new iPod library (full of stolen music from Napster @ 96kbs). We’re not going back anytime soon.

We’re more likely to get tank turn than we are the ability to browse a connected music library, whether over Bluetooth or via USB.
