I love it as a consumer and shareholder. I especially like the pictures they give versus Tesla where you have no clue the condition of the vehicle.

I’m glad they opened up their portal to consumers. There was a 2022 R1T in limestone quad motor with all terrain with 100 miles that was $20,000 off for a 2022 model. I would’ve snagged that if I was in the market for an EV truck.

Try ordering one? (I'm not allowed)

I wonder if they'll sell to whoever, what do they care if TFX or whoever shows up to collect the thing and bring it to Canada?
I am also “not allowed“ by the Chief Financial Officer…they also sold out of R1Ss before I learned about it.

I wonder if the little differences like daytime running lights would put a wrench in any plan to import them as a “new” vehicle?

Wow, these are no brainer deals. Go get some!

Odd, here’s a Denver pickup that cannot be registered in CO, UT, or NV. Also a very early production model so should have 12v dash, 12v frunk, Meridian, two horns, no Munro. She’s loaded with large battery, undercarriage, 20” darks at a screamer price. Tonneau? Dunno.

If it's a 2022 LE it should have the power tonneau.

This is interesting I actually just picked up a used R1S from a Dodge Jeep dealership in NY last Friday. It only had 575 miles. When I called Rivian service to get it moved into a Rivian account for my wife they said it was a customer 7 Day/1000 mile return which Rivian sold at auction. The dealer confirmed they had bought it at auction as well. I have not noticed any poor build quality, in fact the cabin wind noise is much better than my T and being on 21" wheels is overall quieter. Wife is loving it. I still need to update my profile now that we are a two Rivian household.

As a Canadian, you may know more about this than me. My only experience about importing a US vehicle to Canada is this. I bought my customized (for off roading) FJ from a Coloradan who moved to Canada. He tried to work with the Canadian (or Province’s) equivalent of the Colorado motor vehicle department to register / license, but they were requiring him to return it to stock condition (removing all customizations) and whatever other differences exist between US and Canadian vehicle safety requirements (I didn’t pay attention to what he said at the time, 12 years ago, but daytime running lights settings may have been one thing). So, rather than bear those costs, he sold his FJ, to me. Point is, if you buy a vehicle in the US, and try to register / license in another country, you may not be able to, or it will at least result in additional / unexpected challenges. Do you have any experience with this? I recall a post on this forum regarding importing a Rivian to another country, which may have more insight.

both Rivian models are on the registrar of impored vehicles admissibility list. All the labeling is already bilingual. Just have to get Rivian to enable DRL and so on. As with most modern cars it’s a software thing.…that they would previously only do at vancouver service centre. Don’t know about now, with the other ones being open.

every province has its own rules as far as inspections for registration. For Importation there are federal requirements if a vehicle isn’t age exempt(older than 15 years). Mostly bilingual labeling, daytime running lights, and a big one…an immobilizer that meets requirements. http://www.riv.ca/ModificationAndInspectionRequirements.aspx

Returning it to stock Is a peculiar requirement, maybe Toyota wouldn’t issue a recall clearance letter or something.

The demo units can't be leased either. I was just called about the T I reserved. I will probably pass.

Looks like the warranty terms are modified for the demo units to account for the time the vehicles were used as demo units.

The disclaimer says annual coverage begins on date of purchase and mileage is from the date vehicle was first driven. I guess that means the 5 years of coverage for quad vehicles extends until 2029. Thats really good.

Guide said they don't plan on releasing any R1S in the near future.
