Just got it too. I'm struggling to understand why I'd subscribe to Connect+ if I'm perfectly happy with all the entertainment options I'm getting from my EV Sportline Smart Dash

It seems to me, like (although maybe not as 'integrated'), the EV Sportline product actually gives me way more than Connect+, and piggybacks on my already cheap/strong 5G mobile phone. Maybe I'm missing the value proposition of Connect+
Same; I love my @EV Sportline display!

Starting the “free trial” countdown before they have even deployed the update is pretty sus, as the kids say. Unless everyone receives the update today, which we all know won’t happen, then this is not actually a 60 day trial. Seems like a cheap way to treat customers.
I would assume those who received the email would get the vehicle update today. I just enabled WiFi so lets see.

I want to use my phone for connectivity. It is very unclear to me if all the streaming apps will work with tethering.

very underwhelming update. maybe they spent too much effort making the graphics more pretty last time? it's sort of annoying that they would kick off the 60 day trial without introducing anything substantive to make use of it (oh, I can directly stream apple music which I have to pay for separately?).
It's disappointing that Rivian wants the charge 150% of what Tesla charges, particularly where Tesla offers 10x the amount of "stuff" included with their premium connectivity....

You should be able to do that, the notes make it sound like you can wifi tether the truck to your phone now. If this isn't the case, then they are definitely misleading.

I'm going to opt to pay for the service. We travel to places where my different provider sometimes doesn't have data service (or even any service in some cases) and I can use the truck's hotspot with wifi-calling in lieu of it. I have yet to go somewhere that I've lost service on both my phone and the truck.
I intend to pay for the service IF Rivian gets the alarm and video feed live in the app. I can just about pay for the annual subscription through the insurance discounts I would receive for having live monitoring.

We knew it was coming from the beginning. I got 2+ years free, can't really complain. I've had a sub in my Volvo so I could send nav locations and remote start from the app. Connect+ includes way more :)
What's "way more" other than (for now) availability of apple music (which you pay for separately)? Also, you got "2+ years free" of what exactly? The hotspot? There hasn't been much offered (outside of a few subscription services you have to pay for separately).

This is my only beef with this new Connect+ plan. I'll pay the $12/month to stream Spotify vs. connect with Bluetooth with noticeably diminished audio quality (for an already sub-standard sound system) but starting the trial before I have the update feels dirty.

Vehicle mobile connection and all of the services that use them. Volvo only had what I mentioned above and you had to pay extra for in car Sirius to get live traffic. I was just happy I could remote start from the app for that monthly fee.

Instead of charging me for internet connectivity, which I already have in my phone, please just give me a way to access common apps like Spotify and Waze in the 14” screen. If you do that in a way that’s better than CarPlay, I’d be willing to pay for it.
I agree I do not want Android Auto or Car Play, Rivian really needs to consider a fully customized Rivian skinned android automative instance in the vehicle…Yes I would pay for the service then right now not worth it to me.

Rivian is going to keep adding things in. I hope they don't raise the price as that happens but they probably eventually will.

That said, I'm constantly amazed at the people who go on and on about buying a $100,000 car but won't pay $15/mo for the data they use in it.
You and me both. I blow more than $15 for lunch most days.

And this is why Rivian will never offer CP/AA. Instead, they choose to have their customers pay for essentially the same type of functionality.
I don't think this is the case at all. Apple and Google just don't "give" away CP/AA. It may be monetarily free but I am sure there are a lot of stipulations added on what functionality you can have vs CP/AA. Apple and Google want to control your car, not just add a window on top.

As much as I want CP or AA I trust Rivian more and Apple or Google (for now).

There's already plenty of stuff in the existing software that makes use of what will now be behind the paywall, so it's not really tied to the update. Spotify, Tidal, wifi hotspotting, etc. is all going into Connect+. The trial period is just their way of running out the clock on the free features.

* Dolby Atmos® is only available with Rivian Premium Audio
This is at the bottom of the email! Does that mean only Gen2 with premium audio? Ding for gen1?
