I didn't take any pics on the trail, but I wound up wheeling with my old Toyota friends this weekend with the CO FJ Cruisers on Metberry Gulch (rated a 4 on Trails Offroad). There are really only two real obstacles on that trail, a v-notch kinda thing with a big rock on the inside of the turn and a steep rock that you descend with a bunch of gravel on it. The v-notch was no big deal, just had to 3-point the turn and make sure to stay on a good line. The steep rock is called chicken scratch hill, for good reason. I installed my Megawatt rock sliders last week and promptly put them to the test on this outing. I'm betting an R1S wouldn't have an issue, but with an extra 12" of wheelbase (135" R1T vs 122" R1S) the breakover angle isn't great. I wound up dragging on the sliders for maybe 2 ft, but that's kinda what they're there for and I'm glad I had them. We took our husky and despite brushing the crap out of him the day before it looked like he exploded in the back seat. The dog sling I got for the back seat worked well keeping him from scratching the rear screen and trying to get into the front seat (aided by a strap attached to one of the LATCH anchors to his harness). Bit of mud on the trail too...a dirty truck is a happy truck!
Stats for the day, 195 miles at 2.17 mi/kWh (used about 90 kWh or 70% of the battery) round trip. Conditions included highway, twisty backroads (had fun), and off-road on Metberry.
