I was declined by Rivian insurance 2 weeks ago as well (Denver). Same reason was given. AAA Colorado provided the most reasonable option for comparable coverage - including new car replacement (for 2 years) and OEM parts coverage.

I quoted with at least 8 companies - there was a $7,000 spread between the cheapest and the most expensive 6 month premium. I also received 2 additional denials (Hartford and Farmers). Farmers said it was due to horsepower >700 and I never bothered to call Hartford to find out why.
This is kind of nuts to hear. Declined for insurance. It's just getting harder and harder. We renew 9/1 and I have been shopping around, it's been a bit of a nightmare to try and compare all the options - and we use a broker!

Is anyone using USAA in CO? Are you happy with their premiums?
I use USAA and their premiums have been going up considerably the last few years. But at least they will insure you. I heard Branch is cheap but they just started offering car and homeowners in colorado. My quote from them was cheaper than USAA by far.

Also using USAA. I haven't shopped around, so not sure on different insurer comparison, but my premium on the R1T is roughly the same as the premium on my 202 Audi Q5e plugin.

Had a great First Mile Drive in Denver today, and locked in my config this afternoon. So now it's time to research sell vs trade in for a 2016 Model X 75D.
I know we've had this discussion a few times on this Colorado thread, and as recent as Jul 29, but I'd like to ask for advice to narrow down the options for quotes. The buyer options mentioned most on the forum are
Carvana
algo
Driveway
Kbb
Local Used Car Dealer
GivemetheVIN
Vroom
Carmax
DriveTime
Rodo
Carbuyerusa
inRide
Tred.com
carmigo

I'm also going to get a quote for trade-in from Rivian (I really like the convenience of this option).
So, Colorado Gang, any updated recommendations on what might be the top 3 or 4 best options from the above list, or should I take the time to go to all of them?

By the way, the Denver SC lot is full and a truck rolled in with more while we were up there. It's great to see how high the demand is in our region. I only wish Wall Street would agree with me.
Thanks.

That appears to be the comprehensive list!

In June I got a few local dealer offer for my 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro through KBB, all of which were pretty weak. Carmax was also low. Next I was going to try Carmigo but before I got to that Rivian came in with a strong trade in offer. It was $3k more than the KBB and Carmax offers and made the process so easy!

So excited for you!

Thanks COdogman! The "Lock in your configuration" email came last night so I think I'll have the R1S by late Nov or early Dec. So save me a spot at the next Rocky Mountain Rivian Club gathering!

Has anyone else in Colorado been denied coverage by Rivian Insurance? I am located in the Springs and called for a quote. They told me they are not writing policies in my area.

My current provider (State Farm) wants a ridiculous premium. More than my Tacoma and BMW coupe combined.

This is a bit disconcerting. So close to pulling the trigger on a truck from the shop.
i didn’t try Rivian insurance but I have State Farm here in Colorado Springs. I’ve been with them for a while now, I believe 6 years now? I have homeowners, 3 cars, life for me and my wife, and umbrella policies. My Rivian initially was cheaper than my 2020 Model Y performance with same coverage. But both went up during recent renewals.

Rivian is $740 for 6-months right now. We put a lot of miles on it too and they track mileage via the drive safe & save discounts I signed up for. My Model Y is $796 for 6 months right now. I did just file a hail claim on the rivian for $2500 so I’m sure it’ll skyrocket on next renewal again ?‍♂

Any CO folks not put a front license plate on? Before I start researching “best Rivian license plate holder” I am considering just going with the rear.

I'm definitely staying legal but don't want the screw holes. If you find a good screwless plate holder, please report back and I'll do the same.

Well, the decision was made easy for me in that Vroom, Cargurus, and Carmigo declined to make an offer on my 2016 Model X 75D. Trucar and Carvana came back with low offers. Rivian matched the highest of the two so I went with trade-in.
Did I mention I received my 8-Steps email.

I ran without one on for a bit and my previous car too. State trooper in the NW part of the state gave me a warning. I just got some hardware from Home Depot and clamped it onto a tow hook.

So cool! You’re almost there! Of all those options Rivian is the easiest anyway. Will make delivery day very smooth.

Yeah, that’s what I kinda hoped would happen if they noticed. Still would prefer to not catch their attention at all.
