Charging at Tesla charges

in preparation for a 2000 mile road-trip I tried charging at a Tesla Supercharger here in NH. I plugged my R1T into the charger and my screen read starting. Shortly after I received a message on my screen that charging failed and I received a message “ unplug and try again” so unplugged and tried again. After 4 attempts and identical messages, I unplugged and left with not receiving a single kilowatt. When I got home and while checking my credit credit card in noticed four Rivian $25.00 charges totaling $100.00.
Has anyone experienced a similar experience? Of course I disputed the four $25.00 charges.

Yep $25 hold every time you plug in..unless you have a Tesla charging plan then you initiate from the app. Had the same on a Shell EV charge.

Was the Tesla site an approved site for charging

The $25 is just a hold, it will drop off most likely.

Sounds like the adapter wasn’t in properly or the charger had an issue.

If they’re just authorizations, they’ll drop off automatically

What is the address of the SC you tried? Sounds like it was one that is not NACS compatible. I just got back from a long trip and used the SC network 35 times. Only once did it not start with the membership but I let it go through on the Rivian plug and charge at the non-membership rate.

You were not charged $25, it put a $25 hold on your card at each connection attempt.

FWIW, gas stations usually do $75-100 holds.

Also, the location may be 250kW but is Tesla only.

Although Meredith, NH does appear to be the newer V3 chargers it is not open to NACS, that is why the charge never started. Looks like Ashland, NH is the closest NACS compatible charger to Meredith.

The holds are a normal function of charging but with Tesla right now you have to be 100% it will allow non-Tesla's to charge regardless of adapters.

For future reference when you're charging during a session, you'll see your card get hit multiple times with authorizations as the charge progresses. Nothing to worry about.

You can use https://abetterrouteplanner.com/ and your trucks built in nav to find compatible stations. Not all of them support Rivians.
