None of your cameras work?
the cams are wired like 1970s xmas lights. I learned this when one was destroyed in an accident. really sucked that just because one was damaged I had none.

Yeah, this was what I was told as well. It's a shame that they thought that it was one camera (the rear based on telemetry from 3 days ago) and then when they arrived they thought that it was the front and left after a couple of hours. I think I would have been happier if they had confirmed either hypothesis or taken anything apart for that matter. Hopefully next time when arrive they also bring more than just one type of replacement part and the system will confirm enough for them to try it out. Don't get me wrong the tech was very nice. Just got tired of the explanation of rivian's policy on not opening anything up unless the "AI" justified it.

Do we have an electronics expert on here that can explain why this was such a good idea?

My cameras stopped working recently. Happened about 2 weeks ago. Because of the blind spot on the rear passenger corner, sensors not detecting, and the lack of camera, I struck a 6" diameter tree. Couldn't see it out of any mirror. Now I'm looking at about $18k in damages. This is liability on Rivian's part. I'm discussing with a lawyer if anyone is interested in joining potential litigation, send me a private message.

Wow, you are some piece of work, threatening to sue when you were the negligent one.

Let's be clear about this; YOU backed into a tree. Rivian didn't make you do that. YOU are the one at fault here. Nobody else.

The tree was stationary. It had been there in plain sight for years, presumably. Yet you hit it. You clearly failed in the driver's primary responsibility of operating the vehicle safely. You failed to ensure there was nothing and NO ONE behind you when you drove your 7500lb death machine into a stationary object.

It is the driver's responsibility to ensure the safe operation of the vehicle. What if that had been a child standing behind your vehicle? If you are incapable of safely driving the vehicle when you knew the camera was broken, you shouldn't be driving that vehicle. You should accept your fault in the matter and learn from your mistake. And you should pay for the damage to that tree, IMO.
