I had my PPF done by XPEL in Dallas, Texas. All the badges on the car came back cockeyed and crooked. Had some slices in the PPF in some places also. Some corners were not done correctly. It feels like the installer hated electric cars or something. Maybe they were ICE truck owners also. There is no way someone can install an emblem that badly, unless its their first day on the job.

It looks ok, if you tilt your head. All joking aside-that is the worst job I've seen. Hope they fix it for you.

I'll go for the front end package at these prices. The whole truck is tempting, but only in gloss for me. I still think I would probably just stick with the front end. Never had PPF before, but also never spent this much on a vehicle.

After having already paid to have PPF and ceramic coating done the day after I picked up my el cap R1T… I can say the part folks are missing here is the quality control issues.

My PPF/ceramic guys found multiple dents in both rear fenders and creases and lines in 3 different places on the hood. I feel like if I woulda had this service done with rivian upfront, they would have just put film right on top and hoped I never noticed.

Also for anyone curious, sent photos to rivian service on July 5th showing crease in the hood. Then videos of the additional creases and dents found on July 8th and still haven’t heard a word from them…

Are there any places near you that offer hand washing instead of automatic washes? I would say you would be much better off with PPF with automatic washes however I find that places that hand wash is the best compromise. In NYC there are a bunch of reputable hand wash places.

There are some in my area but you generally have to schedule in advance and the costs are quite high when compared to an automated car wash. When I say automated, I mean the "nicer" dedicated automated car washing services, not gas station specials.

Yea, just some progress photos taken throughout the install. I’m sure the badges were replaced prior to giving truck back to the owner.

I used the XPEL program to have Exclusive Paint Protection in Charlotte, NC install XPEL Ultimate on the front end and ceramic coat the entire truck. Came out awesome.. and the PPF already saved me once when I bumped my mirror! They've done several R1T's already, so if you're nearby I highly recommend them.

Getting PPF on forward facing parts this week....had no idea corporate headquarters for Xpel was here in San Antonio...an interesting thing I was told by the manager is that the packages with Rivian do not wrap the edges....the clear film is just applied similarly to the gear tunnel doors.

If that’s the case then that explains the price I suppose and is pretty disappointing.

Yes, as advertised for the front end PPF. A few other shops had quoted me higher rates for lower quality PPF. I added the painted area above the windshield and the black A&B pillars at an additional cost. I'd have to look it up, but it wasn't much more.

This sounds disrespectful to a lot of people.
I drive a Raptor and a Tesla. A lot of people around here have EVs and ICE vehicles in their driveway.
It’s your mistake. The shop did a poor job and you decided to accept the truck back without the shop fixing their mistakes. Maybe you only realized it later and now you know you should do your own check before paying and walking away.
It’s okay, we all make mistakes and have excuses for most of them.

Is this through Rivian/XPEL offer and template? Or is this custom? My local shop is hesitant to use Rivian's template for the full stealth, because it doesn't wrap the edges?

No this is was done before rivian emailed out about their xpel partnership.

Full disclosure this is not my truck lol. I also have a el cap granite rivian and my truck also had xpel PPF installed at this exact same shop. (Also before rivian emailed us about their partnership) and then was sent over for ceramic coating as well.

During the installation they found some creases in my hood that I am still waiting on a response from rivian regarding a proper fix/replacement.

That’s one thing that makes me hesitant to say going through rivian is a deal. I feel like they woulda just installed it and moved on over the creases/dents. And the warranty through the shop folks is longer too.

Got partial front end wrapped in XPEL clear yesterday. Did not do the Rivian deal, but did find a 10% off the total price as a "Rivian referral" on the invoice. Might be something to ask about if anyone uses an Xpel shop.
