I wanted to be the first one to complain about Rivian introducing a feature that doesn't work for me, even though I'm sure @jjswan33 would have me beat here by a mile.

I am definitely now wondering if it would be feasible to relocate this camera though. Having it at the back of the truck up high like a delivery truck could be pretty useful.

You have a tent or something on the back of crossbars for yours? If so I could see that not being of use to you. I think it will be really helpful for me because I never keep stuff next to the camera back there. I thought it was up high in the spoiler, which is about as high as you can get with this truck. Unless I'm missing an attempt at sarcasm in this post, which is certainly possible.

You need an "invisible tent" feature, like the GM "invisible trailer" feature. But Rivian forgot to add the connector for that extra camera.:)

Almost certainly are. Rivian finally gave us something in a patch that was supposedly "coming soon" for a long time and wasn't mentioned in the internal notes. A lot of people looking forward to it, including myself. But I'm still slightly disappointed that the RTT gets in the way so much that it's not effective with it on the truck.

I'll add "remote camera support" to my wishlist here, that could be a pretty nice addition.

I know you’re kidding, but it would be a pretty incredible feat if there was a Rivian-branded hard shell RTT that integrated a camera.

Someone with more technical expertise than I could probably mount a powered camera to their RTT and have it somehow connected to their phone. If Rivian ever lets us have screen mirroring or something, it could then be cast to the display. Probably too cumbersome to really be valuable, but could be nice to have for some.

Wait, the camera isn't in the spoiler looking down?
It is. Works great for my use cases of seeing the bed when tailgate is down (e.g. Hauling lumber) or when I have my dual dirt bike carrier in/on the hitch.

I think it will depend on the use case. For me, i plan to use it when backing our TT or any other trailer. Its another reference point.

Also, its useful while driving if you want to monitor the load your trailering. Same for anything you might have in the bed. Easier to see if something is potentially unsecured.

I too would like remote viewing of GG.

At least now you'll have footage of your RTT flying off while driving if that ever happens ?‍♂.
But that brings up a good point, is this camera included in the drive cam footage?

You do bring up a good point. I can still check on my awning to make sure I didn't forget to close it (I can do the same by just looking through the roof though). And to make sure I didn't leave the first strap dangling since it most likely will entagle with the rear wheel. I'll adjust my title.

It is included in drive cam footage.

Maybe an autonomous drone like the one in the Polestar O2 concept is on their roadmap.

They did say something about drone mode, but I suspect it's just using the normal camera data in a manipulatable 3d world.
