Anyone receive an R2 Configuration Survey from Rivian?

It’s hard to tell from the description but it sounds like this is what is known as a conjoint study. They’re showing you baskets of options to determine the relative value you place on the component features. The designs of these studies/questions/baskets are mathematically driven and don’t necessarily represent anything that Rivian is actually planning to make.

Just read an article that Rivian is sending out a config survey to select reservation holders. Curious to see if anyone received the survey and what additional questions they may have on there besides what is listed in this article.

I didn't get the survey, so it definitely didn't go out to all pre-order holders.

Lol......no way in hell my 80 pound lab is getting in that. I would guess that will fit in the back seat of any of the vehicles.

Got one too. In the additional input area I said it would be good to have a mechanical key and easier access to replace the 12V battery if it dies.

Most have a physical key as a backup in case the battery dies. Hidden inside the FOB. That is what I meant.

Rivian may have a couple of goals in mind.

Based on the responses they could possibly simplify the production mix, much like Tesla did with the Model X launch. The dual-motor configuration was so heavily desired that they eliminated a single-motor option.

Sadly, Rivian may also be trying to raise the price already by seeing what customers may be willing to pay. But production is at least two years out and there are so many variables, like interest rates, inflation, and EV incentives.

Just give me a great vehicle at a reasonable price and we have a win-win!!

I put in an R2 reservation within the first fifteen minutes but have not been sent the survey email [yet].

I also reserved in the first min or two after R2 reservations opened... I never got any R2 survey either.

You do realize that this thread is two years old?

The survey was a (small) part of the planning process used to determine what configurations of the R2 would be offered. That decision was made long ago, and the survey is totally irrelevant at this point.

The survey happened only a month or so after the initial R2 announcement in 2024, and it was only sent to some subset of owners at the time. The results were probably tabulated within a month or so and the survey was then over. Again, just a small part of the planning process.
