Anyone else not like Rivian's sounds?

Three in particular:

The govt mandated low speed sounds that sounds like an overheated fan/blower? Other EV manufacturers found sounds that weren't objectionable, I have no idea what Rivian was trying to do with their sound.

When the car locks, it chirps, but it does so at the same time as the door handles retract, so both sounds overlap, and the chirp is more like a screech. It actually kinda sounds broken?

The turn signal indicator is a pock-pock sound, really low volume, low frequency, can barely hear it at low speed, cannot at all hear it at highways speeds (lane changing).

My delivery specialist explained that these are all supposed to be ā€œnatureā€ soundsā€, that complement the environment rather than shock it.

The turn signal, for example, is supposed to be tapping two pieces of wood together. Thatā€™s the one that bugs me the most because you can barely hear it. The combination of the short duration and frequency of the boy-d chirp is such for my ears that I often just donā€™t hear it. The ā€œlow speed soundā€ sounds like a star destroyer to me. Not sure what ā€œenvironmentā€ thatā€™s supposed to complementā€¦maybe on Hoth. They should call it Coldth, by the way.

This is surely the worst turn signal indicator sound I've ever heard in any vehicle.šŸ˜ž

I absolutely despise the pedestrian warning sound but I don't know what sound I'd like better. It definitely doesn't sound like something you'd expect an EV to make and sounds like some sort of blower or vacuum running.

I also think the turn single sound is unusually soft. I don't mind the sound itself, but it does disappear into the background really easily.

I donā€™t ever hear the pedestrian warning sound anymore. I did read somewhere that it is required to be multi-tonal or something like that, but other than that, Iā€™m sure they could give us some options. I wonder if they were going for ā€œrushing waterā€.. if so they may want to give it another try.

I donā€™t mind the other sounds at all, although I really wanted the Halloween owl back.

I do, too. The Rivian goes from worst with the turn signal to best sound ever with the owl!

Can you unplug the PWS or does the chirp of the alarm play through the same speaker? When I took delivery of Tesla, it was the first thing I did when I got homeā€”unplugged it and havenā€™t looked back since. Tesla uses horn for alarm lock sound.

The Rivian "lock" sound is one of the best features IMO. It is quiet, discreet, and not obnoxious at all. On all my vehicles I either disable the lock sound or reduce the volume to the minimum. With my R1T, I don't feel the need to change anything.

Compared to my neighbor's F-150, which he insists on locking three or four times in a row just to be sure, even at 2am. The F-150 has a super loud honk, which can't be disabled or made softer. IDK why he can't just manually lock it and walk away. Or why he can't just press the FOB button once to lock the vehicle and hear the solenoids throw the locks closed. No, he has to click the FOB button two, three, four times ... I counted 16 times once.

Yes, the turn signal sound is soft and not very audible if you have music playing or if you're driving on the highway in the rain. But if you're paying attention to your driving then there's no problem. The sound itself is different than most vehicles but not offensive at all. Deal with it, blinker boy.

I hadn't heard the pedestrian one until the mobile service arrived for the recall and the first thing I said was "does mine make that noise too?" Then winced when he said yes.
Turn signal is fine by me but passengers have commented on it.
The lock sound as some said above is far and above my favorite one ever and I usually turn them off immediately even on rentals because I find them so obnoxious.

That said I did have an incident where I stupidly left a gear tunnel door open for 3 hours and probably should have noticed. I also find I need to lock the car every time I leave since the extended handles provide a very large unlocked sign so I'm glad the sound is pleasant.

Regardless of whether we find the PWS sound pleasing or not, itā€™s better than the sound of an ICE truck! Maybe they were going for ā€œwind through the pinesā€ but it sounds more like a street sweeper to me.

And they should eventually be able to offer other sound choices since itā€™s essentially just a speaker. Unless itā€™s something that needs specific approval from NHTSA?

Please donā€™t disconnect the sound - itā€™s there for a very good reason.

I nominate my Tacoma. Much quieter than the Rivian.

The only time the sound would be needed is when backing up. If you use situational awareness, you can mitigate this risk. In general, itā€™s pretty annoying and pollutes the environment with sound. The Toyota and Nissan ones are incredibly loud and annoying.
