I think the issue being inner city is more the small parallel parking spots and parkades
If the car can park itself in a tight place, people could exit the car before parking. In case of spot that's smaller than R1, it would be also hard for other smaller cars to park.

The 4K cameras and overhead view make parking my R1 much easier than any other vehicle its size. If it fits you'll get in there.

We have an R1T. Works to haul all the things we need. We did have an R1S ordered as well as a second vehicle. Drove around in one for awhile and we felt it was too big for a second vehicle for what we needed. Canceled the R1S and got a Mustang Mach E GTPE instead. To add we had pre increase pricing too on the R1S. We also have R2 on order will make the call if we keep the Mach E or get R2 when to time comes.

Me and my husband are both retired. We love the size of the R1S, we also ride e-bikes, camp and stuff. Perfect for us, so comfy, plenty of room for all the gear and stuff you need to bring on roadtrips. We saw the R2 in Laguna beach (we also have a reservation) and thought it may be too small for us. We’ll see when the R2 comes out. I’m not tall so we had to add running boards to make it easier for me to get in and out which wouldn’t be necessary on the R2.

We are considering the R1S but it’s much larger than our current small suv. (We also have a reservation on a R2 but I imagine it will be two years before it’s in Canada). Anyone find their R1s is too large? There is just two of us but we bike, hike, camp etc
I always thought a 2-row R1S would be the perfect size, as it would be the same size in all other dimensions except length. That said, the R2 is significantly smaller all around and seems to be very close in size to a Tesla Model Y. That's a bit small for my needs when it comes to an SUV.

I think size comparisons are relative. If your Honda is too small for you and you need more space, The R1 will be good. If you are used to the Honda and the size is big enough, then you might find the r1s big.

I guess buyer's remorse is common, but unless it was purchased sight unseen, seems like an odd observation.

I drove it 2x, saw it at the Venice location, and looked at the measurements and compared it to the vehicle it replaced (TRD Pro 4R) to make sure it would fit in the garage and would work for me.

It could be a few inches longer. Which would make it a few inches shorter than the LWB Range Rover. Would help the 3rd row

@Capri So, after 99 replies, have you come to a conclusion about the R1S size for you?

Didn't t read it all but it sounds like 50%~60% say its just right and another 30% say wants it bigger. Only smaller percentage, including myself said wanted bit smaller...

Perhaps a poll would have been good for this?

Late to respond, but have never felt the R1S is "too large". Parking and maneuvering in tight spots is very manageable. Have driven a wide variety of sizes and shapes of vehicles and I think the S and T are in the sweet spot for size when you have more than just yourself and a partner.

Also, the turn radius is amazing for this size of vehicle

I’ve learned a lot from posters! I still believe the r2 might be better for me but it will depend on if I think I can wait. It is bigger than I need but there are a lot of advantages.

Best SUV on the planet. Don't be intimidated by the size. It takes a week or two to get used to it and you will never look back!
