The car is great. But the software is lacking. And we've been promised a lot of things that Rivian hasn't delivered. People always make excuses for it, but the reality is, they need to do better. Simple functions shouldn't take over 4 years to integrate. Especially if you market your brand as "software leading".
Lol. Software is lightyears ahead of any manufacturer not named Tesla and IMO has the best UX. Just because it’s missing one basic feature (that is coming) doesn’t mean the software is lacking.

Reading comprehension isn't your strong point.
Oh that's rich. When Google Assistant is clearly not only about text msg'ing and not the only thing demonstrated on Autonomy Day. And I've clearly said that more than once, yet you seem to conflate that's all it is. You said you don't know anything about software development. You asked what could possibly cause delays and you got a list of some possibilities. Yet, you reject them all and claim it should be simple.

Alright then. Enlighten us all with your expertise in software development and why Rivian hasn't delivered. Better yet. Don't waste time doing that. You should call Wassym right away and offer your services. They clearly don't know what you're doing. But, you, hot shot, clearly do.

Other manufactures aren't saying they're software based companies.

Please re-read what I said. I said Rivian said AI was coming first quarter of 2026. But I said text messaging should not take this long to integrate. Like I said, reading comprehension...

I have my Rivian R1t updated to OTA version 2026.030 but still do not have the digital key software that uses Apple wallet and ultra wideband passive entry. I checked with Rivian support, and they said it still hasn’t been pushed out to all the R1t owners. (They are doing it in stages?). It sounds suspicious to me, but if they haven’t even pushed out all the updates from a couple versions ago, seems they would be jumping ahead of themselves with even newer updates?

"Improved capacity management of the 12 V battery system."

And it just so happens another round of preemptive 12V replacements are underway...

There's a comprehension challenge here, but I don't think it's @UnsungZero_OldTimeAdMan .

From what I have read, Rivian decided to make text messaging part of Rivian Assistant which in turn is built on Gemini AI. As such, the text messaging is a subset of a much bigger, complex integrated software development project. In that context, it does not matter if you think "text messaging should not take this long to integrate". That's simply not the issue. It makes little sense from a software development viewpoint or a marketing viewpoint to release part of a major update like this piecemeal just to get text messaging released. Additionally, the possibility exists that the text messaging could be complete, but it relies on core components that are not complete or stable or need refining, such as fine tuning of the LLM.

It's pretty clear that you don't know how much you don't about software development projects and that's OK, but the "reading comprehension" comment is sophomoric.

yes it’s true I don’t know anything about software issues. That was stated in the original post I made. If you’ve followed Rivian, you’d know they mentioned text messaging coming 4 years ago. While now they want to integrate it into a big package is fine, that wasn’t their message from the get go. But go ahead and use your freshmen level intellect.

Nothing exciting
As long as the connectivity improvement is related to the poor Google Cast launch stability, then that's a win.

Casting typically takes 5 tries to get past 4 seconds of streaming followed by a connection error. Sometimes a soft reset as well.

Nothing. I'm having a hard time justifying paying $2,500 for ADS without some new features.
No way I would pay $2,500 (or $50 a month) for the feature set we currently have and the way that it "drives".

there's another thread here that discusses how you have to push support to check the software team, who can send you the invite

I've been following Rivian since 2019 and pre-ordered in Jan 2021. I know all the painful history of the Rivian text messaging woes. They changed the message and direction several times in the 4 years you mention.

Proper grammar is "freshman level intellect", not "freshmen level intellect". 🤣

Cheers!
