I sat in My vehicle for 2 hrs and noticed the AC became hot even though it was at 67 degrees F. Is this normal? I drove the vehicle for a few minutes and then the AC came back. The vehicle can’t be stationary for long periods of time to continuously use AC?

Also, the passenger side now can’t change the temperature. I only see option on drivers side to change temperature. Not sure what happened.

I used to have the AC blowing hot air, and I wasn't able to drive when temperatures were hot. I also had a very poor charging experience. The service center fixed the issue by just flushing out the coolant and adding the proper amount of coolant. I believe an incorrect amount of coolant was the issue.

Yours may not be the same issue, just sharing my experience.

What was the ambient temperature? Was "auto" turned on? Imo not enough info to give accurate response.

If there is no passenger, the controls on that side become disabled.

Was this in your BMW? 😁. The R1T had a FSA where the AC was overcharged and it caused it to work poorly. The remedy was to evacuate and recharge it.

That's not normal behavior.

I use my truck as an office during summer as my unit doesn't have AC.

never had any issues like that sitting stationary in my garage/ on the street.

Campstream (company) made a device for piping AC to the bed of the truck (for tents)
The device wouldn't work if all units functioned like you are describing

I had that happen a while back. I did a hard reboot and it never did it again
Kyle Connor also had something similar happen when picking up his R1T, hard reset fixed it.

Rivian says I have to select the “Auto” button otherwise AC won’t turn on. Is that true?

I never selected this before and set the temperature to 65 and AC was cold. Not sure why I have to select “Auto” mode for AC to turn on. Is that what you guys do?
