I got my email saying my replacement is on the way and instructions on what to do with the old one. They aren't asking for it or the case back. We are being asked to render it inoperable. The information below was in the PDF attached to their email:

Update on NHTSA Recall #24E093000 – Replacement Adapter Shipment

Dear Customer, Thank you for trusting us and for your patience regarding the NHTSA recall #24E093000.

We are pleased to inform you that your replacement adapter is ready to ship, and a tracking number will be sent to you separately via email.

In the meantime, we kindly ask you to safely dispose of your V1 adapter by following the steps outlined in this video: https://bit.ly/3O6Oj9f.

Once you have completed the steps, the adapter will be rendered unusable.

For recycling, here are a few recommended options:

 Specialized Recycling Services: Companies like Freedom Electronics offer specific programs
for recycling EV charging equipment. For instance, they provide an EV Charger Recycling
Program with incentives for returning non-working Level 2 chargers.

 Municipal E-Waste Collection: Check with your local municipal waste management services
for designated e-waste collection days or drop-off locations.

 Retailer Programs: Some electronics retailers offer recycling programs for electronic devices. Contact local stores to inquire if they accept EV charging adapters for recycling.

Proper disposal of electronic items like EV charging adapters is essential to prevent environmental harm
and to ensure that valuable materials are recovered and reused responsibly.

I think A2Z should take them back, render them useless and recycled responsibly so users don't have to deal with this and will likely find their ways to landfill.

If I may ask, how long does it take for the package to go out after a request is submitted? I submitted a request last Thursday, and received a confirmation right away saying that it'll take 1-3 days to verify my information. I haven't received any updates since. I'm not in a rush, but but hoping to get more transparency into the process (and fix any issues that might've popped up due to my part). Thanks.

I have the same question. I submitted a request a week ago but there has been no update since. If you submit a valid request without receiving the email about the recall, will the requet still be processed?

We are approving requests one by one and ensuring customers actually have an adapter, we noticed a lot of cheating - some customers already sold their adapters and are claiming the V2 while uploading AI/photoshopped pictures and even pictures with non-A2Z adapters, we have counted over 50 false claims so far. We started shipping the first batch yesterday and will keep shipping daily. Our estimate is that the replacements will all be sent in the next 2-3 weeks or sooner.

That is a shame, that would knowingly cause issues to the person who bought the secondhand adapter. Thanks for the context on the process.

I’ve had luck now with my new “official” adapter, but the @A2ZEV product is def built better. I’m keeping both on hand at all times.

After holding both in hand, there is no way I would pay $225 for the Tesla one. So I treat it like delicate gold and still use the Pro—because I don't want to fumble and have to pay $225 to replace the Tesla one.

Received my replacement today. It appears to be extremely well made (as did the origianal one, although the slider was a bit finicky).

Outstanding customer support IMHO.

I ordered one of the level 2 adapters today, even though I'm unlikely to need one for my driving patterns. My daughter does drive my old Tesla model S, and uses my old Tesla charger so maybe I can use my new adapter when I visit her.
