I drive my Gen 1 R1S in sport mode exclusively now since the last update that improved cornering. I have very few passengers typically though. The speed dynamics are already absurd for vehicles this size. I just want an R3X that doesn't have too many software limiters, so it can actually be a track car and I can get it out of my system, assuming that that is possible.

A Rivian is many things, but a sports car they are not. I‘m not diminishing what a Rivian is, but comparing to a McLaren is like comparing a jumbo jet with a stunt plane and saying that the jumbo jet is better (or equivalent) as it goes faster. There’s a lot more to being fast than just quick straight line performance.

In the latter scenario, which driver is the snotty bully? I thought these things were determined by driving behavior rather than the badge on the vehicle.

Yeah, but the stoplight is the place where the bets are settled.

Make sure that onramp spectacle is a straight section of roadway.
In PNW, I just need to make sure it's wet, which is most days 😂. Even my G1 quad will easily beat it on most days. I have first hand experience in a different car versus a RWD M3.

Agreed many people on here are delusional or have never driven a car with good suspension sport or luxury. Yes it's fast in a straight line but what makes a sports car/sedan good is it's ability switch directions with great steering feel.

Rivian is great for a truck but the ride is neither luxury or sporty, it solely relies on stiffness and roll control to make it seem like it corners on rails but when pushed hard on switch backs it lets you know very quickly it's no sport sedan. Same with luxury ride, loses it composure very quickly on washboard surfaces where it just crashes and bounces over bumps instead of absorbing them.

It's suspension is great for doing truck things and probably the best out there for adventures but let's be realistic when comparing to other classes of cars.

Are you saying the Quad will beat a McLaren or BMW in a curve when raining? I'll take your word for it.

RWD has severe disadvantage when wet or on less than perfect surfaces. You can get on power far earlier with AWD. It was the big reason why Porsche 918 was quicker than the more powerful McLaren P1 on a racetrack when tested by TopGear or Grand Tour.

The McLaren road cars were amazing to watch doing hot laps between free practice, qualifying, and races at the Las Vegas Grand Prix (just after Turn 5). I would have loved seeing some Rivians with no speed limiters on the track at the same time.

10.6, they say? That's absurd. Add to cart.

On public roads, there shouldn't be racing around curves. Even a stoplight race can be dangerous.

There are some stoplight situations that are relatively safe, especially if the top speed in the competition is not too far above the road's speed limit. That is the most likely place I will battle a McLaren, and if I beat it to 60, that is all I need to strut away happy. Seriously. I won't be racing it around a track. Acceleration is the only safe measure of penis size on public roads. IMO.
