  1. R2's A/C performance in really hot weather?

Also keep in mind when the ICE is idling it is also creating heat from the engine and exasperating the lower airflow with additional heat around the vehicle. In addition the EV uses less power to just run the A/C vs letting the 200+ hp ICE idle to do the same function. If I have a short stop...
  2. Poll: Should Rivian Consider a 3-row R2 model?

Sure as soon as Rivian puts full size seats in the R1 then put the minis in the R2. (optional)
  3. R2 lift kit (aftermarket) by EVSportline

Also need to know how much range is affected
  4. Vegas to Upstate NY

Just drive. Rivian will get you there with ease. Try to see something interesting every day.
  5. CNBC: A ‘perfect storm’ points to a much smaller U.S. auto market by 2040

Electric bikes seem to be taking over the younger market. Don't need a license for compliant models.
  6. As you might have guessed.... higher gas prices has increased interest in EVs [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

I found that I liked having the direct connection to the engine with a manual transmission vs the automatics with torque converter etc. The EV extends that same connection to the motor with one gear from zero to 100+ mph. The direct connection is still with an EV. Just not the shifting to...
  7. R2 teething/early issues -- new owner needs flatbed 4 hours after delivery

Yes and yet we whine constantly about delays and increased cost.... Fast, cheep or good, pick two. And sometimes only get one.
  8. Which one of you was this?

After looking again the stone seemed to bounce forward with great force vs the low speed of the vehicle. In addition looks like the vehicle would have rode up on top of the stone the way the front bumper hit the top of it. The stone flew forward like it was hit underneath.
  9. Which one of you was this?

Bolder seemed to bounce more than I would expect also. Almost like a foam or fiberglass prop made to look like a stone. Landscapers use these to save money. Or maybe it is real. If I was local I would be over kicking a few rocks to see what gives.
  10. $24,950 SLATE EV Truck / SUV Info & News

Well Slate website indicates lots of add-ons to personalize the vehicle. May fine a large niche in the market.
  11. LUCID cutting 18 percent of staff

Yes Lucid needs a lower price SUV with a low cost build. Taking too long with the flagship vehicles. Could soon become the Betamax of car companies.
  12. ~10% drain in <48 hours on camp mode

Not sure why camp mode is used if not really using the truck. Next time just leave everything off and see how it goes.
  13. R1 derates charging to 24 amps on Tesla Universal Wall charger

That should be fine. Is this a fused disconnect? Seems odd that 48 amps would open a 60 amp fuse like that. Probably need to electrician to come check. Should be no surge as the charger ramps power up slowly. Clamp-on ammeter would tell the story. I assume there is no heat building up from...
  14. R1 derates charging to 24 amps on Tesla Universal Wall charger

Fuse and a breaker on a dedicated circuit? Seems odd. Is the fuse from a quality supplier? Amazon? Aliexpress?
  15. R1 derates charging to 24 amps on Tesla Universal Wall charger

Tesla Wall Connector will also derate if the internal power connection gets hot. No indication of error on the Tesla unit? Easy to open and check the torque on the wires.
  16. Explain to me like I’m 5…is software really that hard?

The independent functions are fairly simple. Integration with the other thousand functions gets exponentially more difficult as features are added. I constantly see software upgrades that miss continuing functionality. Features and functions just disappear in name of progress. Not a Rivian...
  17. Smoking Tesla Destination Charger at PDX

Looks like smoke from inside the lid. I believe it is a bad connection in the junction box. Tesla actually has a heat sensor for the wires that provide power to the Tesla terminals. Will throttle or stop charging if over temp is detected. Don't ask how I know
  18. Stick with solar brand for home charger?

I would find an integrated EVSE that would export to vehicle before exporting to the grid to have substantial extra value. Exporting to the grid is a rather poor value on the latest solar rate tariff plan in my area. Solar first powers the home, second fills the battery, excess is exported for...
  19. Market Reality Check: When do Gen 2 Quads drop to double digits?

Not sure what number are looked and yet until R2 was released the R1 was carrying the full administrative and factory burden. Those costs can now be shared. Need to know the true variable cost to build R1 before declaring no money is made.
