Tapping into 12v wiring by the frunk - formerly for 12v power outlet in frunk (DIY How-To Instructions)

I have a 2023 R1T built in June 2023, with NO power outlet in the frunk.

The wiring harness leading into the front driver side of the frunk only contains two wires. They are for the frunk light.

When tracing this harness backward toward the windshield, I discovered a connector about midway back along the driver side of the frunk. it has that light's wiring in it, of course, but also a 12v pair of wires that were formerly used in the frunk for a 12v power outlet/port. These wires run into the connector, but are not used. They have no corresponding wires leaving the other side.

I didn't want to cut or tap into any original Rivian wires, so I purchased some 12v 2-wire waterproof automotive connectors from Amazon. Two pins were removed from the female side of one of them, so I could then use them in Rivian's connector (in place of their dummy seals/plugs). See photos below for my process.

Note: This is for informational purposes only. I'm just showing you what I did to my own truck. I am not responsible for anything you may do to your own vehicle, or damage to it or you, etc.

Also... Don't judge me for the mess (leaves)! It sits under southern live oak trees, and they are dropping leaves and debris like crazy right now.

NOTE: Insert until you feel and hear the terminator click into place. You must hear the click, or it isn't seated fully into the connector!

are the wires you tapped into always live? or do they go on with the vehicle,
do they go directly to the 12V only? and do you know which fuse goes to them ?

Here is more info. I have not tried these yet so it may not work. These connectors look like Furukawa RS series and Sumitomo whatever series. I also found picture showing them used by Tesla/Nissan/Infinity.
I might buy one of these kits and see if the contacts fit into the existing housing.

I grabbed this from a previous poster. #F46 is for the frunk. #F51 is for (used to be) the dash port.
