Portable Charger Official Service / Maintenance : Clean portable charger pins and install 3 new seals

My Rivian goes in for the 7500 service Thursday and in a VM left on my phone regarding the apt, the advisor mentioned to make sure I bring my portable charger as there is an update.

I found this on the work approval:

" Clean portable charger pins and install 3 new seals "


Anyone do this yet?

Yes, I had this done when had a Service apt two week ago when I brought my truck in. it's more weather sealing as they seen people been charging more outdoors. Didn't know about this until I got there.

I had a trip to Bayfield, WI and our Airbnb didn't have a really great charging situation so I had to use an extension cord and try my best to keep the PC out of the rain. It worked the entire time, including in some serious downpours.

I don't know what it is, but the search feature on this forum is the worst I have ever used. Even when I look for specific posts that have personally made, I only have about a 50% success rate.

I've been using my portable charger daily for the last year and so far no trouble. Rivian also hasn't contacted me to have it serviced and I was there in February for my 7500 mile and in June for my HV replacement ?‍

Rivian hasn't mentioned it to me yet....and I have 2 of them....1 official from truck purchase and 1 fell off a truck and sold to me on Ebay.

I plugged the 120v end of the portable charger, into the extension cord, and plugged it in the wall of the cabin about 40ft away.

Maybe I’m overthinking this. I imagined the wall outlet was indoors and the car outside. so, much of the extension cord is indoors…

They added this to my 5/17 R1T service which was for an alignment. Dropped my R1T off yesterday, 6/24, for another alignment. It's still not right.

I use my portable adaptor for charging outdoors. After 6 months it had corrosion on the 3 small pins between the adaptor and EVSE brick. The charger stopped working. Rivian replaced it under warranty and the new charger had seals around those same pins.

Had mobile service out yesterday to replace a tire and the technician applied this service on the portable charger. Took a couple minutes to inspect, clean, and add sealing washers to the pins.

Is it just to the charging pins that make contact to the R1? I'm heading to the SC right now and want to know if I need to take the whole thing or just part of it.
