Out of Spec posted a new overview of the R2. Seems like Rivian is open to feedback (specifically regarding the charge port location). One new thing I saw confirmed, there will be air vents in the trunk, so pet approved! They also got to see it side-by-side with a R1S, I didn't really appreciate how much smaller it is. But they noted it still fells just as roomy (if not more so) due to the lack of the third row.

It’s a good video, as Kyle asked I left my wants in the comments

edited to add my posted comments:
I feel that the R1 seat shape needs to be retained for the R2, the R2 looks to have a flatter look to both the seat back and bottom. As for charging, put the charge port that is the easiest for the most chargers and causing the least amount of drama at public charging stations. I really would like to see a minimum of 350 mile range for a dual motor to make road trips feasible out here in the mountain west. Let’s have 20” wheels, we all know the 21” wheel is extremely limiting for tire choices. Can’t wait to get my R2 which I reserved the first day possible.

Anyone else notice Frank Beamer photobombing the video?

I'm really pumped about those steering wheel controls. Hearing how impressive they are by everyone who has tested them makes me want them right now.

Th current 300 mile range is decent for road trips and there will be 270 and 330 mile range variants.

It's a decent video, good comparison between R1 and R2. It's exciting to see but we have to remember a lot of stuff can and will change between now and start of production.

I agree on the seats. No way you put those seats in a tri motor 3 second 0-60 SUV. We also need to remember that the $45,000 price point, if we ever see it, will be even further out.

I predict the R2 we see will be closer to 60k by the time we get to launch. It's a lot of vehicle still for that price

One last note, Range is really not an issue if you have good charging. Hopefully two years from now charging continues to be improved. My quad R1T already goes way longer than my bladder. 275-350mi range is the sweet spot IMO.

The more I see of the R2, the more I like it. There's actually a decent chance I'll trade my T in for it.

That’s short-term thinking. Tesla is in the process of putting in longer cables that are center mounted. Honestly, front left is best in my opinion / experience

In the video (at around 23:30) you can see the average efficiency being 3.12 mpkW.

Not sure how hard these demo cars are driven, plus I would expect further efficiency improvement as the development nears mass production but even at this level I think it is a fairly good value for a Tesla MY sized vehicle (with more "luxury" aka more weight added).

Love it. Not sure if Rivian can make much profit from R2. Definitely more feature rich than MY and better looking. There will be more competition in the segment. Hyundai/ Kia will make their cars in the US to qualify for the tax credit. Tesla will have updated MY touting efficiency and FSD. Then there is BYD. Wonder how many vehicles Rivian needs to sell to stay in business..

I was at the Normal event. Have driven a model Y and X several times. Ended up buying R1T (twice) when cross shopping vehicles. For my use case I would buy the R2 over my T, over the Y and over the X. I'm guessing my spec (dual motor, large battery) will run $60,000. The front two row passenger area is larger than the S (according to Rivian rep there). Result is more back seat room for passengers. Squared off vehicle just means more room and comfort. I'm almost 6' 3" and it looks like good head room. If pricing is close can't imagine picking a Y.

While we were definitely not supposed to touch them, I was there this weekend and snuck in a few turns - it's insane how well tuned they are. I want an R1 retrofit SO badly for the steering wheel. I agree with kyle here - others WILL copy this, Rivian is going to have something very special with these controls when they finally start delivering R2s
