Cheyenne is going to be a huge help - I-80 through Wyoming is very sparse for CCS charging. There are also several other CCS stations being built along that route.

Opening the Tesla chargers isn't going to be any help here - Tesla is not opening up a single charger along that corridor between SLC and North Platte, Nebraska (659 miles). A lot of these "problem" routes are covered only by V2 Tesla chargers, which aren't being opened.

There is still definitely a huge need for more CCS chargers.

Cheyenne is certainly useful. Now we'll have DCFCs in Cheyenne, Wellington, and Buckee's in Johnstown.

Have you driven I-80 between SLC and Cheyenne? I'm driving our R1S from Boise, ID to DFW, TX for the eclipse in April and both Rivian Nav and ABRP keep me OFF I-80 - which is the fastest route by a LOT. ...but when I search EV charging on google maps, I see there is an EA station in Evanston & Rock Springs, and then Tesla SC's in Rawlins WY. It seems to me I SHOULD be able to get there on I-80. Am I missing something? Why isn't Rivian's nav or ABRP taking me through there? (aside from Tesla not showing up yet)

Cheyenne is good. Wyoming needs a lot of work throughout the state.

I haven’t driven Wyoming with an EV yet. I80 looks sparse but passable. I25 looks horrendous.

Tesla’s NACS access in Casper is nice, but it’s one of the few places that already has EA options.

I don’t have any immediate plans to drive that way, but bringing the kids to Yellowstone or Mt. Rushmore have certainly moved down my priority list for the next few years.

Maybe next time you are driving through Sinclair, WY you should stop by and ask where the EV charger is or ask their opinions about EVs, lol.

Excited about more chargers in the west and upper midwest. Would be nice if some of those V2 superchargers get upgraded to V4s soon.

Yes I have.

Evanston and Rawlins EA worked well, maxing out at about 220kW. And a bonus is that in WY you pay by the minute for your charges, so they were REALLY cheap compared to the pay per-kWh like other states. I did call EA a day before I got to Rawlins to confirm that it was working (it had recently been down, and I needed to be sure!) - they were able to see the record of the last time each charger had been used and how much power had been delivered, which gave me confidence that I would be successful in getting a charge there.

In order to cross WY I had to strategically plan an overnight stop to be at a place where I could charge. You can set a waypoint in ABRP for your overnight stop and tell it how long you plan to stay and what the power of the charger is, and ABRP will include that in the route calculation. That makes it possible to go across I-80. When the new CCS chargers open up in Rock Springs and Laramie. But that probably won't be in time for your trip.

Been checking Cheyenne regularly hoping it will open before summer. About time!
There's DC chargers in Lander, Rawlins and Cody now so I can BARELY make a planned rafting trip this summer, but there's some long runs in there!
They really need to get something in the Wheatland/ Glendo area. We camp up there a couple times every summer and this year I rented an additional "electric" site for 1 night just to charge so we can get back. I feel like a jerk for basically ruining a campsite for the weekend by renting it on Sat night only to charge my truck, but whatchugonnado?
