Not sure how long it's been open, but was pleasantly surprised to be guided to the Rivian Adventure Network charger at the south end of Las Vegas on my way out of town. Last time I was there a couple of months ago, it didn't come up.
I think there were 8 chargers. There appeared to be another version of chargers also at this location that had Rivian on them, but were different from the regular RAN high-speed chargers and they had other manufactures plugged into them. Haven't researched what those are?
For those traveling from Vegas to Los Angeles or vice versa, can now complete the trip using only RAN. I traveled in the middle of the night with nobody on the road, so was pushing 90 most of the way from Vegas to Barstow. Used about 80% at those speeds with my custom wheels and All-Terrain tires. Barstow is almost dead smack in the middle of L.A. and Vegas. Charged for 35 minutes in Barstow to make it home to L.A.
This is a good example of faster MPH and stopping an extra time versus slower MPH and driving conservatively to make it without stopping. When I had my 21" wheels/tires on the truck, I made it from L.A. to south Las Vegas without stopping, but had to keep my speed around 70 MPH. On those roads, where the speed limit is 70 MPH, you're getting run over as most go faster than that, much faster. From my house to South Point Casino is 300 miles. At 70 MPH, that's 4 hours 20 minutes.
At 90 MPH, that's roughly 3 hours 20 minutes of drive time. Add in the 35 minute stop to charge at Barstow and the total trip is 3 hours 55 minutes. Saved 25 minutes driving faster and stopping once than driving slower and not stopping. For me, my bladder, knees and legs appreciate the stop, being able to get out and stretch my legs. Bladder appreciates it as well. I usually grab something to eat at the Fatburger, Mikes Super Subs or In&Out. Truck is charged and ready by the time I'm done eating.
