    My Key Fob Mod

My paint is holding up greatā€“no discernable wear I can see.

Tip: Pop a gear tunnel door to temp disable phone lock

This may be old news, but as I was going insane with the truck locking and unlocking as I was loading the bed, I discovered that popping a gear tunnel door open (just a little will do) will keep the truck from locking again. Just don't forget to close it when you walk away!

    Near-perfect Gear Tunnel/Crossbar bag

I've never had such a convenient place to carry crossbars as the Rivian Gear Tunnel. However, due to their shape and weight, it's hard to get them in and out if you have other stuff in there. I keep a short ladder and a mountain bike pad in the tunnel, and the crossbar feet get stuck in nooks...

How is the R1T handling in the corners?

I agree with the thread consensusā€“good for the weight and vehicle class, but not a 911. That said, you feel the Rivian's weight most in the corners. Down a curvy backroad though, it's an absolute blast. Not sports car-like, but it's own kind of fun. The feeling of carrying the weight, inertia...

Aero caps for the crossbar anchors

You could put some duct tape over the mounting points and see if that makes a difference! I'd be interested to hear if it does.

    My Key Fob Mod

I did this on mine in compass yellow (or at least the closest Rustoleum comes). I sprayed some spray paint into a dixie cup and slowly dripped the paint into the voids with a toothpick. Spray paint is pretty low viscosity, so it's easier to fill paint than other kinds.

    Tonneau cover repair scheduled–redesign ready?

Let us know how things look once you get it back! Where are you located? My service is in Bellevue, WA.

    Tonneau cover repair scheduled–redesign ready?

General consensus is that repairs to the tonneau aren't being scheduled until redesigned parts arrive in mid-August. I just got the call to schedule my appointment in 9/2 and indeed the work order specifies a remove and replace.

A little fun with drift mode at the beach

I was down in Long Beach, WA and chickened out of doing that! (Horrific visions of my Rivian stuck, then swallowed by the tide.) Next time, I'll try thoughā€“that looks like just too much fun!

    Washington Want to buy: Badges/Lettering

Debadgers! I'm looking for a set of rear and side letters. One of my favorite design features is the yellow highlighting on the Rivian letters on the side, and I'd like to do the same on the back. Plan A is to paint the sides, but I have zero faith in my skills there. Plan B is to use the side...

XPEL Rivian Factory PPF Q&A -- by XPEL

@Tim@XPEL I filled out the form for a front clip install when the program was announced, but haven't heard back yet from an installer. (Seattle area) Should I have been contacted since? Would it help to submit the form again?

(Fraternal) Twins separated at birth (R1T + Delivery Van)

I definitely won't admit to stalking my Amazon packages on the off chance that my particular delivery would be delivered by a Rivian Delivery Vanā€“that would be the behavior of a crazy person, right?!? Anyway, after rushing out a couple times only to find a Ram ProMaster idling, I finally caught...

Debadge Rivian R1T - for those curious to see what it looks like

Teddyangā€™s truck looks good debadged, but carmelbytheseaā€™s Limestone lends itself really well to the clean sheet look. For me, I think itā€™s the greater contrast between the paint and the plastic. I donā€™t think my FG would look good debadged.

Tesla to open Supercharger network to non-Tesla vehicles

I think a compelling product would be a Tesla-made charging adapter in the $299 to $499 range that contains all the wireless and authentication electronics that makes the Supercharger network seamless. Use an app on your phone once to configure the adapter your billing info/link your Tesla...

R1T vs Model Y, a ridiculous comparison review

Yep, I agree! Itā€™s just not as tight as the Model Y due to physics.

R1T vs Model Y, a ridiculous comparison review

I think the networks are probably not getting a whole lot worse in absolute terms, but as more and more electric vehicles get out there, the increase demand without corresponding (and proactive) supply of chargers will make the experience worse in terms of an individualā€™s experience. Component...

R1T vs Model Y, a ridiculous comparison review

Just a multipack of wet-sand paper in various grits. Worked through the grits from about 225 to 1000 (I think). I might have needed to start with a diamond file for the first one 18 months ago, but I canā€™t remember for sure. I used a black Sharpie paint pen, though you can probably get a lot...

R1T vs Model Y, a ridiculous comparison review

A couple more things I thought of while driving last night: Noise comparison My vehicle was probably a worst-case scenario in terms of noise. It was a relatively early build using their brand new mega casting. I wouldnā€™t be surprised if German and Texas-built Model Ys have some changes that...

R1T vs Model Y, a ridiculous comparison review

Bummer! The ā€œjust drive it inā€ method sure was convenient, but I hope you get max cash in the private market!

R1T vs Model Y, a ridiculous comparison review

The BuiltRight system is super cool! I probably donā€™t need the Molle panel, but rails would be greatā€“Iā€™ll check it out! Iā€™m slightly baffled that Rivian wouldnā€™t offer their own factory optioned accessory system. That seems like leaving money on the table to me!
