Well day one didn’t go so well! We had a small window of opportunity to escape Oregon, but Mother Nature said no.
Everything was fine until we got just north of Eugene. We hit some patches of ice and then full on ice. We got plugged in at EA in Eugene, but only manage to pull a max of 74kW, so...
@Throwdown have you opened a ticket with Rivian? I don’t know if it should or shouldn’t warm the battery if it’s already 50 degrees, but if you feel there’s something wrong with your vehicle maybe it would be the thing to do. I’m pretty sure beating this dead horse isn’t going to fix it.
This smells like anti EV trolling. It’s simply not as bad as some like say online. It’s a reduction that’s not to unlike ICE in the winter. Nobody likes to say it but gas cars lose 10% or more of mpg in winter too.
My old iPhone SE worked great in the Rivian and my iPhone 15 is almost impossible to get it to charge and not move. Also I use silicone cases on my phones and that helps keep it from sliding around a little.
I gave up on easy entry/exit because of this. I already have a tough time getting the seat position comfortable (bad back) and in my truck overtime it would slowly miss where I want it and get further and further away from my settings.
Thanks. I’m with you, I need it more fore the truck than the trailer. I like that trailer. How’s your efficiency with that. I’m lucky to 1.1-1.2 at 60mph in the summer with mine.
Never seen these before. With the prices of side by sides these days this looks pretty good. It also appears that it can be flat towed.

It does look like fun.
I mostly use Rivian, Electrify America, and Tesla and I pause the subscription when I won’t be using them. If swiping or tapping a card isn’t available and often it’s not, downloading and setting up a new app doesn’t take too long, especially if you need juice. I’ve set up several while sitting...
Interesting. I’ve thought about looking into the cost of having added to mine. I just received the manual cover and its just ok. I don’t think I’d pay the new price for it.
I’m curious about this too. I’m at 25k with the stock 20” and they are way too LOUD. Also would like something more suitable for highway miles while towing. If I can improve efficiency while I’m at it that would be great.
This is me exactly! The stock 20” pirellis at 25k miles have a lot of life left, but sound like super swampers. I just want them gone and something quiet like the rest of the truck. If I get better efficiency that’ll be a bonus.
Just checked it out! ?I think I might start looking at pop up’s again. 175 miles towing with the large pack would be awesome. Downside is I often hang out in the trailer while charging and I’d hate to have to do the setup take down thing.
Right now the forecast for my departure date looks pretty sketchy. Supposed to leave Friday and go over siskyou pass Saturday. I might have to push out departure a couple days.
