In the Bay Area, I just found a guy who has 3 sets of 21" wheels with tires and is trying to unload them for cheap. I bought a single wheel for $300 to use as a full size spare. The premium for one was worth it just to not have a full stack of wheels taking up space in my garage.
If any one...
I just noticed there's a new Yokohama Geolandar A/T4 in the 21" size! My main motivation for ditching the 21s was to get an AT tire, but it sounds like we have at least one decent option now. I might actually go pick up a 5th 21" wheel from Craigslist and just roll with the 21s. Problem solved!
Well, shoot. I forgot about the handling implications. That does feel like a dealbreaker. It sounds like some used OEM 20s is the go to option for me. Maybe I can get lucky and find someone who wants to trade 21s for 20s.
OOF, $200 each is rough, but that's kinda what I was afraid of.
Yeah, I'm not being that ambitious I know. The steelies are right up my alley aesthetically and the price is right. Is the weight an issue for any practical reasons? I know lighter wheels can marginally improve range and...
I'm looking at replacing my 21" wheels with EV Sportline's 20" Steelies with Toyo AT3 EVs. I know many people have quickly realized the pain of having the 21" wheels long term, but what do you do with them? I'd imagine the resale market is flush with them. Have they been hard to unload?
Thanks!

The OEM crossbars by my measurements are 3 3/4" at the same locations, and also slightly bow upward (at least 1/4" possibly ½") as you get to the center of the roof.
If you lay a bar level across the tops of the different crossbars, the front crossbar is ½" lower...
I have a Prinsu Pro rack shipping soon. Anyone know how high it is off the roof compared to the Rivian Cargo Crossbars?
I currently have 3 crossbars and I realize they are actually not level (the front and the rear are both a little bit lower than the middle). If you happen to know how the...
I just got a new bigger rooftop tent and realized I either need to add a third cargo crossbar to my R1S or get a full roof rack like the Prinsu or Prospeed. I'm guessing I'll be happier with the full roof rack, but ship times for both are too far out for a camping trip I have in 3 weeks. So with...
I thought this was really intriguing (especially that bench seat) when I thought it was sized between the R1 and R2 (where I imagine the original Scout would land). Looking it up, it's actually freakin' huge, bigger than my R1S and more comparable to something like a Ford Raptor or Bronco...
Thanks so much to everyone for the quick replies!
Regarding charging in Northern California, we primarily do trips north to Sonoma and Mendocino counties, over to Yosemite, or south to Monterey and Bug Sur. All those areas are pretty well served by Tesla but I haven't noticed many EA or RAN...
Hello everyone!
I just got back from Christmas in Illinois and while I was there I rented an R1T on Turo to get some real-world experience with it. My pre-order number has also come up so I can pull the trigger on a Max Pack Dual Motor R1T anytime, but I have some questions that I was hoping...
The structure is just a basic plywood frame that I've bolted into the frunk tub with the factory bolt points. The inverter sits behind the frunk under the access panel and next to the air filter and 12v battery. I also added the inverter's remote and a 110v outlet to the frunk, so I don't have...
Thanks so much for the detailed post! I've been attempting similar 2+2 family camping in my Model Y to get ready for my future R1T and it's been super fun. I wired a 2000W inverter to the 12v battery which then recharges from the Tesla's main battery whenever the car is on.
A couple things I've...
I'm hoping to take delivery in Bloomington/Normal (my hometown—obligatory "Go Wildcats!"), visit my parents, and then take my dad on a cross country off-road adventure all the way to the Pacific.
I recently discovered the TransAmerica Trail and I'm hoping to spend the next year mapping out the...
Also, I should clarify...
I've spent the last 2 years in Tokyo where my primary mode of transportation has been an e-bike, and before that we were in San Francisco with a BMW i3 so by "comparable", I really mean, "not a subcompact hatchback with 110 miles of range or a bicycle".
It can be a...
Yeah, we’re returning to the US after 2 years in Japan and need a short term vehicle to get us through the next year. It’s either a used car or some kind of lease transfer potentially.
Hey Everyone!
I’m in need of a vehicle to get my family around while we wait for our Rivian R1T max pack sometime in 2022. I’ve never owned a truck before so I’m interested in trialing the experience before taking the plunge next year.
We’d like to use the next 9-12 months to see how we like a...
Is it just me or is there not one exterior paint color that doesn’t clash with the Forest Edge green interior? I love the green interior with the darker wood and I currently have Launch Green with Forest Edge preordered, but if I decide to delay in order wait for the 400+ mile battery every...
