What Was Your Previous Daily Driver Before Rivian?

2015 Chevy Colorado. Was a great vehicle, but I love the Rivian. Got $2k less than I paid for it brand new on the trade. One thing I miss is the Diamondback bed cover. Wish they would come out with one for the Rivian. I might buy one for the maverick and modify it to work w the bed rail buttons.

2018 Subaru Ascent.

We kept the Ascent for my older son who is now driving and I have the R1S. I have wanted an EV for a long time but my wife is scared of the charging network so keeping the Ascent is also just in case we have issues with it we have another car we can use on long trips!

2021 Audi Q7. Loved it and never had a problem with it. Felt like a tank.

2010 XTerra, 2" lift, full off-road underbody protection. Absolute beast in any condition, took it on jeep roads and surprised the rednecks. Loved that truck. Didn't love the 15mpg. Sold the XTerra to a friend, so I still get to see pictures of her exploring the world.

Now my R1T has 21s (for range), and I have been missing beefier tires and a cheaper vehicle that I worry less about damaging.

Here's my old XTerra a few years back at Mt. St. Helens. I drove in during a snowstorm and had the park entirely to myself!

I kept my previous daily driver, a regular cab-long bed Nissan Titan for long towing trips, yard work and hunting trips. I fit this statement by RCR‘s ”the Rivian is a truck for guys that already own a truck to do truck stuff” I can’t bring myself to throw mulch, deer or anything else that will sully my babies perfect form

2010 Chevy Avalanche, about 160k miles and still running fairly good. Can't put a plow on the Rivian, so the Avalanche is a keeper for plowing, long range towing, hauling, etc.

I know I'm missing a few and only include those that I could consider as a daily driver (not including business cars). The 1986 Camaro was purchased in 2020 with 19,000 miles and not really a daily driver. Also had a Kenworth Tractor Trailer / Truck and an International Truck.

Last DD was a used 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo that I drove for the last 5 years. Loved how speedy and quick it was at the time, little did I know that the Rivian would absolutely blow it out of the water!

Previously I had a Suzuki SX4 hatchback for many years, and I remember at the time I thought that the upgrade to the Veloster was a HUGE step up in tech. In reality all I gained were bluetooth and a backup camera - but I felt so spoiled all the same.

Now with the R1T as my first fully new car purchase, first truck, and first EV I'm just amazed at everything it offers from the quality, ride, functionality, tech, and safety features. Couldn't be happier with our truck!

My DD/everything vehicle for the last 9 years was a 1999 4Runner. Before that, 2006 Wrangler Unlimited, 1997 Wrangler, 1990 Wrangler. Obviously, the R1S is a step up. I was a firm adherent to the “used beater” philosophy of car ownership. This is my first new car and first EV. I love it and the family actually wants to ride in my car now.

Salvage 2010 Ford F150. Paid $13k for vehicle from salvage yard, $5k to rebuild myself. It only had 15k on it when it was salvaged, sold it with 260k for $8k, pretty decent ROI

Tuned 958 diesel, >600 mile range and >30mpg on the highway. I thought that 500ft lbs at 2,000 rpm was a lot before the R1T.
