    Snow tires recommendations?

I think it’s just short supply, tire rack does weird things with out of stock / vs discontinued. I ordered a set of 4 from Tire Racktwo weeks ago.

    Snow tires recommendations?

It’s the tire rack wall mount, I have 3 of them so far. It will fit 4 Rivian tires, but I’m using one tire as the spare. If you are mounting it high definitely recommend a hoist — these things are heavy.

Hail storm destroys my Rivian R1T

I was caught in a sudden hailstorm in Denver a couple of months back. Small hail, but still made a mess of the thin aluminum hood. Going in for PDR soon. None of the vehicles around it were dented, Be careful with these fragile rugged vehicles.

Any regrets on 20" All Terrain tires for suburban parents not off-roading?

Build a good relationship with your service advisor. Luckily I have a car enthusiast as my SA, we talk about the different car projects that we are working on. Being respectful, courteous and understand that the SAs want Rivian to succeed as much as we do. When things go wrong they are are...

Any regrets on 20" All Terrain tires for suburban parents not off-roading?

No regrets, just made the switch to AS+3 with aero covers: should get the range of the 21s (possibly more as less mass), the better looking stronger 20” forged wheels, and half the price for new tires. Getting calibrated to the 33” diameter on Monday. Also have a second set that will be running...

What Was Your Previous Daily Driver Before Rivian?

Tuned 958 diesel, >600 mile range and >30mpg on the highway. I thought that 500ft lbs at 2,000 rpm was a lot before the R1T.

Dear Rivian Design Engineers- what is the logic for the location of the dash vents?

It’s happening on many vehicles as the center display gets bigger: easier to see the display harder to get cool air where we want.

3,880 mile trip across and down the Rockies ⛰️ R1T performed flawlessly

You got your giraffes, your dachshunds and your tarantulas, I have no wish to swap to the latter two.

3,880 mile trip across and down the Rockies ⛰️ R1T performed flawlessly

Here is where we stayed in Dixon Adobe at the Edge of Wilderness, and the place we rented in Fruita Tour de Fruita -- both were fantastic!

3,880 mile trip across and down the Rockies ⛰️ R1T performed flawlessly

I used A2 Customs, for both PPF and tinting. This is the second car they have done for me, and they do a good job. They have worked on quite a few Rivians (the roof requires a special extra wide roll).

3,880 mile trip across and down the Rockies ⛰️ R1T performed flawlessly

Thanks, my better half is clearly the good looking one. No dent on the roof: the panels are both stronger and have better support being shorter, and in the case of the roof curved. No other cars were damaged, the Rivian hood is very flat and very soft -- you can see the center panel flexing...

3,880 mile trip across and down the Rockies ⛰️ R1T performed flawlessly

I'm close to 19k miles on the R1T since taking delivery last September, and have just completed the longest trip so far. With a little help from my Rivian guide I managed to get a cracked windshield replaced just before leaving. I also had 70% ceramic tint installed on the roof and new...

    Electrify America disaster

No, I’m 1,700 miles into a road trip, hot 3 EA charges between Illinois and Colorado — all had issues with the 350 chargers: broken connector, throttled ”for upgrades”, failed to initiate charge, or just never got above 40 kW.

    Electrify America disaster

In my experience the EA 350s have been a complete waste of time: the last 5+ I tried either failed to initiate, were broken or limited to 30kW. I have always had better luck with the EA 150s, frequently maxing at 160kW. I’ve used 4 RAN chargers on my current road trip, all jumped starting to...

Why are EA 350kw chargers so much slower than 150kws on our trucks?

I‘ve put 16k on my R1T since September, completed a 1,350 two day trip towing a car+trailer, and am 1,600 miles in to a >3k trip. My experience is that at ~80% of the EA chargers I can pull more current from the 150s (frequently 162 ish) than the 350s (many throttled by EA to 30-40). I have...

    Window Tinting % Level Preferences

I did this using top quality ceramic (I want heat reduction not gansta look): 70% windshield, back windows, and roof, 50% front side windows to match rears. Windshield and roof make a huge difference to cabin temps and allow A/C to run less intrusively.

    Windshield venting

Happy Ending. I reached out to my guide last week, and she was able to work miracles. I had the windshield replaced at the Michigan SC on Friday. Getting ready for a 3+k trip starting Sunday: Michigan > Denver (work) > Grand Junction > Moab > Santa Fe > tbd > Home.
