Rivian consideration for buy-back and order timing?

I have a preorder with an October-November order window estimate. Long story short, my current car (not a Rivian) is going to be bought back by the manufacturer over defects. That puts some urgency on a replacement car. I know that Rivian is moving up some preorders that have leases expiring soon. Does anybody know of a way to ask similar consideration in my (unusual) situation?

You did not answer my question... and how would anyone here know? Call Rivian and ask.... FYI: you don't have a lease expiring - we all have resons for getting our R2's asap....

Well he is in California, the nation's capital for vehicle sales, EV sales, EV service, and EV charging infrastructure. So... yes. A little. At least in terms of delivery timing.

You might get bumped up regardless as a lot of people moved up. Hard to say for sure. Especially in a busy delivery area like California. Even if you got pulled early for an invite, you would have a wait for a VIN anyways. That timeline could partly depend on color combinations you choose too. I would have some sort of backup plan in case the timing doesn't match up.

My first Rivian was on order a year out. My Ford Mach e GTPE was broken by the dealer so they gave me a full buyback. Two weeks after I got the Ford check, Rivian contacted me about a declined vehicle (interest rates went up) and I jumped on it. There is always an exception to the rule.

I’m on Long Island. Nobody is more special than us. We have a Rivian service center, showroom and clubhouse. And two more close by in Brooklyn and NYC. Plenty of EV’s on the road here.

My wife and I own older vehicles, if one of them breaks can my order window get bump up?

Right now I'm in the dec-feb window so I might not get our R2 until as late as end of March. One of our vehicles just started leaking oil and the other drinks it.

My commute isn't far by vehicle but it's a long bike ride. Earlier this year I had to fix some things on my old Ram, I rode my bike for two weeks. Should I make a call and get my R2 over those that have been waiting longer?

A bit blunt perhaps but you put yourself out there when you posted - no one here has the secret phone number for those who want/need the car sooner than others. The only thing to do is call Rivian, though given the current crush of orders I suspect your odds of success are low. I’d say good luck but maybe you’d take my place if they move you up!

Actually yes….i had an expiring lease and I didn’t put a reservation in until May 2026. I picked up my R2 August 14. Rivian is prioritizing those orders where the potential buyer will be forced to go elsewhere if ordering isn’t possible. I’m sure they have predictive analytics supporting their position.

No, they’re prioritizing leases ending. How would they possibly take so many variable real or imagined “I gotta have it” into the mix?
