It’s really hard to not update because we’ve got bugs that need to be fixed. So the choice is either disable updates and live with the bugs that exist or update selectively when fixes for issues are released and then experience new issues (for clarity’s sake - I personally do not have automatic updates enabled, but were presented with a bulletin constantly when we don’t update). Kind of a no choice choice. 🫠

I am overall optimistic about the new OS2, as I’m sure they’ve learned from past designs and configs and maybe have delayed some fixes for existing issues in favor of rolling it into this new OS. Fingers crossed!
OS2 is a complete rework from the ground up. Hopefully they've re-implemented all of the bugs you've grown to love.

If they could just make the Apple Music experience more consistent and reliable, I’d almost give them a pass on the others! 🪦

Literally every update has introduced a new bug for me. Every single one. Things that should just work, that had worked fine forever, suddenly misbehave. So excuse us if we're a bit jaded and have some skepticism about updates. It's entirely justified.
As long as they don't get as bad as Microsoft... I really don't care [that there are bugs]. I don't use Apple Music. The car works and drives fine, bugs and all. You can always opt-out and not install any updates. But if you want new features... you have to accept the chance that they come with bugs. And if you encounter bugs, report it: Rivian app > share feedback. These reports help them get better. Complaining about them in an online forum/platform they don't actively monitor or participate in, you're effectively shouting into a hurricane.

We don't have to accept bricked vehicles though. The 2026.15.1 update that has forced replacement of 12v batteries is a feature? I just passed 60k miles so I am out of warranty. I don't want a half baked update that breaks a vehicle that I now have to fight Rivian over who pays for fixing things. I will definitely be letting this update simmer for a while to see what issues crop up.

Rivian app > share feedback

Report the bugs. Be a part of the solution.

Apple Music has worked flawlessly on R2 after the last update. Hopefully same for R1.

1) Both can be done simultaneously.

2) It’s been shown they do have at least a general understanding of activity within the online platforms.

3) If we can’t raise valid issues or concerns for discussion in these forums, what even is the point?

Again, I remain optimistic about OS2. Let’s hope it’s a net positive!

I think the updates can tell people’s state of mind and just likes to play with them. I’m generally a positive person and I don’t think I have had an issue with any of the 2026 updates on the R1 or R2. Not sure there was anything I recall from 2025 either. Not saying there have not been any just nothing I’m using has been negatively impacted.

There are some good things in the OS 2 that people have asked for, clock is moved. Audio can dock on left or right.

What. I really want to see is if some of the halo wheel options make it to R1. Really like being able to do the HVAC from the steering wheel, based on how it works on the Halo wheel they certainly could mimic that behavior on the R1 scroll wheels and buttons.

Turn off auto updates? I haven't had any issues with my R2 infotainment besides just not having the same feature set. I imagine they've done more work towards that for this update, since they got it quite a bit closer in the previous R2 update.
No connect+ and auto updates turned off. I eventually install every update but wait a good while before installing. There are some of us that consistently get buggy software updates. There are dozens of us, dozens!!

 CarPlay here we go!!!!

I bet $20 Wassym finally woke up to how shit the half-baked integration of services is, and is willing to really listen to his customers.
