It’s August —Any Insights Into When Coastal Cloud Can Be Ordered?

I was in the shop for another demo drive, this time trying the 20" AT. Sales guy told me as soon as I came in that CC is available NOW. Turned out I knew more than him. Other than that, the 20" AT were surprisingly smooth and very quiet during my 30 minutes test drive. I will be getting them instead of the 21" AS when CC is open to order.

Just read it as well, but I'm not interpreting it as very soon, rather it seems to me "later in August" implies 2nd half at best.

Seeing as how next week runs into mid-August it would be odd to push this story on Friday 8/7 and then release Coastal Cloud just a couple days later.

That smells like the week of 8/24 to start taking orders - maybe that's the Rivian Story for 8/28.

I think that's the first indication that the LE will be cut off sooner rather than later (I mean, we've always known it was a limited option, but here they're urging immediate configuration, making it seem more eminent). They've said reservation holders will be able to order LE even if their window is Dec-Feb.
I wonder if this will be gated to existing reservation holders as of some date, or if they'll work through the whole queue and then cut over. Ie what happens if someone wants to reserve in Jan? Will they have closed reservations and just open up regular ordering for non-LE Performance and Premium, or will this new reservation not have the LE option?

Rivian has confirmed to RivianTrackr that the Coastal Cloud Signature interior will be available later in August, with Forest Green opening up at the same time. Borealis is still on track for September. All three will be available with the Launch Package.

Rivian will honor reservations for the LE package if converted to order (they may set a deadline for placing these orders). But one day the LE package will disappear from the configurator; they may announce the end of it Prior to deleting it from the configurator.

I think Rivian is trying to get more R2 Performance with the Launch Package cued up before the end of Q3 by reminding the potential holdouts that the colors they want are right around the corner. They don’t want to lose momentum.

I have a feeling that the 20K-25K units that they hope to move this year directly correlates to the number of limited edition launch packages they’ll offer. When Rivian launched the R1 it took them a while to move 25K units, but with the R2 I don’t think it will take as long.

They’ll definitely remind customers of any looming deadlines to order the limited edition launch package to get people off of the fence. In September they’ll announce that all color options are available and there will be an even bigger push for Q4.

I just hope there are better lease deals for the R2 Standard next year, because to really move into the mainstream market monthly payments of $700-$800 are not going to cut it.
