The AI recap is often used to save the reader from having to watch the video. It's useful in cases where the video has a lot of facts, but not useful if its just a fun video to watch.

I wouldn't call the AI recap as AI slop.

I see AI slop more as jokes, memes where AI was created. At work I produce AI slop of Candy Bars with funny names. I'm sure my coworkers are sick of it.

The wikipedia definition is digital content made with generative AI that is perceived as lacking in effort, quality or meaning.

I would consider most AI creations as being slop as they are low quality, low effort junk that's easily mass produced.

But, a video summary? I don't think it meets the criteria for AI slop

The first aspect is the utility - people don't want to waste time watching a video
The second aspect is the quality - It does a decent enough job and we're not looking for precision.

As an aside I do dabble in musical creation despite not having any musical talents. So far I've resisted any temptation to use AI to help. I feel like it will be a massive gut punch to the soul if I did.
