Finished R2 demo test drive? Share your review / impressions

If you have some time, go a little early and play with the demo inside. Adjust seats, etc. That way you maximize the time on the drive instead of playing with the screen.

Wow, your SC has a demo vehicle inside? I'm happy to have a SC within 45 minutes, but the customer area is tiny, with just a few chairs, a couch and couple of small tables. It's smaller than my doctor's waiting room

Does the MYP come with standard highway autopilot still. Heard that is gone and would need to pay $100 for FSD. That could be a deal breaker for me.

I might have got lucky on location as I see now that a different demo drive location is just a service center. Plus, availability of R2s may vary per location so who knows how each one is set up for customers. YMMV.

My test drive was at a service center. They had a large garage with 4-5 test R2s inside. For the test drive, they paired me up with the one that closest fit the spec I was looking for (color, wheel size).

It doesn't come with Autosteer though. Autopilot was Traffic aware Cruise Control with Autosteer. Only their used cars come with this now. Sad.

Before the renaming, Autopilot would keep you in the lane and change the speed depending on traffic. Now, the new cars do not keep you in the lane because it doesn't have "Autosteer." They had to rename everything because California thought Autopilot was misleading.

I love my Model 3 Performance but given the shenanigans that Tesla plays with its customers, I'm really hesitant going back to them. My next car will be an SUV because I need some ride height and size. If I had to choose now, I'm definitely going R2 with the bad range and all

I just took my 3rd demo drive as my delivery has been scheduled for 8/14 and I'm trying to maintain my enthusiasm in the face of writing a big check. My other 2 were on a HFG with 21s and this time was a CC on 20's. Given I ordered 20's, this was fortuitous. Verdict- I prefer them over the 21s- aesthetically(just my pref) and ride-wise(I always prefer more sidewall). I also tried autonomy for the first time. I'll admit, I'm a driver and this isn't important to me but I wasn't a huge fan. On 75 in Dallas (IYKYK), it was a bit squirrel-y. When I needed to intervene, it didn't auto disengage and I had to remember to push the stalk the opposite way- intuitive but an extra step. Overall, remain excited.

no I am talking about autopilot that used to come standard in the model Y. I have a 2022 Model y that came standard with it. Deal breaker for me if they no longer offer it.

Autopilot (or whatever Rivian calls it) comes standard with Rivian still. I currently own both a Rivian and a model y so I am very familiar with both. But I read Tesla stripped standard autopilot.

Yeah, I don't trust any of this automated driving, haha. I'll have to give it a try, but.....

a colleague has a Tesla MY and used it the entire way from Pennsylvania to Mississippi, and said it was amazing. I realize that Rivian isn't where Tesla is at, but I have faith.

That said, I don't take enough road trips to get it right out of the gate (not getting Launch Ed.). I'll try for 60 days, and then probably sign up for $50 in any month where I'm planning a longer road trip.

They renamed Autopilot to "Traffic Aware Cruise Control With Autosteer." Tesla no longer offers "Autosteer" and its just TACC so in essence, no more Autopilot. They have to sell FSD right
